The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Hi @Dimity @Shaz51 @NatureLover @Former-Member

Well done on ur cleaning.

I had an odd three drawers in my lounge near my kitchen that i never knew how to use.

They had all sorts of junk in there so ive cleaned them out now for linen which feels nice. I washed them as well and kept them fresh and organised.

Well done @Former-Member @TAB @Shaz51 . It's all progress.

Yes @NatureLover it was good to find parts of Dad's story. I'll enjoy reading them I'd like to share them but am estranged from most of my siblings.

I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Well done @EternalFlower that's a really good idea. I've been meaning to go through my linen cupboard.

Sorry to hear, @Dimity (unless it's a good thing).

How will you store your Dad's memoirs? Do you have a special box or something?

Re: The magic of tidying

I’ve recently had a large bunch of bananas become ripe. All at the same time! So I’m trying to clear them.

Ive made two loaves of banana bread (used eight). Have had about four for morning and afternoon tea. Gave away five yesterday. The clocks on to them becoming overripe. My housemate has been gorging on them… Will we make it?

Which makes me realise that I’m quite thingy about what is the perfect level of ripeness for me to eat them. I’d say no bruises. Must not be soft anywhere to touch. Must be a nice (not dull or dark) coloured yellow. Must be pleasantly firm (can live with a little bit soft but not hard). Must not taste floury.

Any thoughts?
