The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Valid point. some folks did come in white coats with tasers, but the old skin, . . just too thick. Sorry

about your ribs and back mate.. I've broke ribs plenty of times but recover pretty fast..

But then my doc has made me his special interest project.. Secret of good hospital and home help

for me has been.. buy em flowers, chocolates to share, and thankyou cards..

Not sure about your back and work situation.. Work helps mine, but thats rare... I gotta keep moving

or I'm in trouble.. I do have lots of small breaks in the day. I have to watch the pickers though..

I have someone from work safe give em a speech every year, we are hunter gatherers.

Humans are not built for repetitious tasks. . They earn heaps, but at what cost I wonder.

Anzac. . . penalty rates.. ouch..

Anyway, Pickings nearly finished up here. thank goodness. Mate , let me know later tonight

how you went. tonys.

That right. . there is, national treasure, I say @Shaz51 . Don't think anyone's successfully

reached the back of my cupboards. There has been the odd National Geographic expedition,

folks went missing, then they turned there attention to the moon. That was easier..

OK promise. I will leave this thread in peace. . . have a lovely day folks. t mb 1

That was an amazing effort @NatureLover, well done.

Thanks, @Dimity 🙂 I wasn't able to replicate my effort on Sunday...oh well.

Cleaning-wise today I pulled out the washing machine and cleaned under and behind it.

I am so impressed!!

Sorry that you are /were struggling. Have you been able to work on the spare room?

@Oaktree Do you have a goal this week?

Mine is to tackle my desk (piles of haphazard papers and notes) and the kitchen (unfunctional).

@NatureLover

My goal for today is to move everything off the couch so the kids can all sit down when they come over later.

During the week I still have to dust my coat hangers and clean my mirror.

Just small jobs.

I could probably do a bit here @Oaktree ; stuff to bin, sort things on floor out a bit, yes, also the lounge , think it was comfortable to lie on before I spread stuff all over it like 9 months ago lol

How'd you go, @Oaktree ?

I achieved nothing yesterday! 😣

Re: The magic of tidying

Hey @NatureLover @Dimity @TAB @tonys @Appleblossom

I achieved yesterday’s goal. I didn’t really have any choice. I needed the kids to be able to sit down. I also cleared and cleaned the bench and half the kitchen sink. That made it heaps easier for hubby to cook.

I sent my day watching Trixie’s Motel, whilst getting up hourly to stir the stroganoff. Hubby ended up going to lie down after he got everything in the crock pot so I looked after it.

Overall it was a great day yesterday!
