The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

Yeah I'm feeling a bit gluggy @TAB . Monday is ruled by the moon in astrology so things are always sensitised at the start of the week. Apart from cleaning the house, I am planning on giving my house some feng shui music. It balances all the elements to clear out stagnant energy. I thought I'd include this under the magic of tidying thread. You can have this on today while you tackle your household duties to energetically clear your house with music!

Re: The magic of tidying

I find if I keep it on the energy in the house gets cleared @TAB I like to smudge with white sage or use bells to break up the energy usually. It definitely needs an energy detox after this eclipse. Will keep the audio on today and use some bells

Re: The magic of tidying

My heart goes out to you @Shaz51 - it's not an easy situation to be in I know. I feel like a lot of carers suffer from a lot of guilt - it can take time to feel okay with things. One of the things I learnt about guilt going through everything with my dad is a lot of the guilt I had was coming from myself - my dad was actually okay with me moving his things and with the changes that were happening.

It was really hard (still can be some days) but I have started (albeit slowly) to learn to give myself permission to release some guilt.

I hope you are okay my friend.

Big hugs,

FloatingFeather xx
