The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

@Former-Member

Small steps my friend but one area seems to lead onto another. Little by little the house gets tidier.

Re: The magic of tidying

Ah ok @TAB did not know. Probably when you moved out of that rental property and were tidying up? Well @Oaktree tossed out the kitchen skip plus recyclables. My recycle bin is full. Tackled the loo - the rolls have been tossed and the bowl is clean. Will move onto bathroom vanity but that will be all for today. I feel better after my house has been cleaned

@TAB Ah ok did not know, thought it may have been back then when you moved. Not long to go now and you'll have your new place. Well I got the toilet bowl cleaned and disinfected the seat. The rolls have been tossed out. I won't be doing more today @Oaktree - have got a produce delivery. Got to put away juicing celery and fruit and vegetables. Switched on my air filters in the house to clean the air lol The air is now filtered!!! Sometimes I forget to do it but the air in an average house can get more toxic than outside the home. So I bought air filters last year and the air is usually light and crisp. You don't know youre breathing toxic air. I had to do it because I have dust allergy

Have you done your dusting @Oaktree? I have just tidied up the kitchen table where I prepare my food. Will do some more in a minute but the loo is done and the garbage from the kitchen has been tossed out. Got to clean my vegetable juicer

Oh I did not realise you were in W.A. I'm in Vic., got quite a bit done today - I surprised myself. About to have lunch then will tackle some more. The kitchen table is almost clean. The laundry and the loo look great so far. Got to brush a few cobwebs this afternoon. Its 11:35am now here in Melbourne @Oaktree

Re: The magic of tidying

That was an amazing effort @NatureLover, well done.

I don't envy you reducing your stuff to one carload @TAB . Plus you'll be starting from scratch in the new house. Big challenge

Sorry I haven't kept up with responses this weekend @Former-Member @Oaktree @Appleblossom I'm struggling a bit. Cleaning-wise today I pulled out the washing machine and cleaned under and behind it. This week I should probably prioritise the spare room to create some space.
