The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Mushrooms in the carpet @Dimity WOW

Quiet days can be good days. Really good to see your post. Mostly I have a very quiet life.

I am a bit excited. I will be having a little visitor in a week so more tidying up will have to happen ... to some extent ...

Hi everyone @Dimity @Appleblossom @Shaz51 @Delicatessen @FloatingFeather @Former-Member

I managed to miss posts here yesterday. Sounds like you are all making some progress. My progress has come to a standstill. I have things I want to do but I get distracted easily by other things. Things I would rather do. So as a result nothing is happening re the state of the house.

Re: The magic of tidying

Hey @Dimity @Oaktree @Shaz51 @Delicatessen @Former-Member

I finally had one of those ... "sleep on it" solutions" lol

Figured out how I could re-arrange some music so it was more adapted to current uses.

See, if I had dived in all willy nilly ... I would have made a bigger mess. Will get onto it later. Have an appointment with a Beach clean up mob this morning. Yeah ... I have a problem with boundaries and do pick up other people's rubbish. I have a friend who has counting rubbish apps ... so I let her do my data ... lol

I do like some order .... and there is a level of mess and tidiness that is conducive to bring out the best in little ones ... that is what I have always aimed for ... I am thrilled about him possibly coming to my home. It has been a long time coming ... the other side are clogged up with their real estate supremacy ... coming from the other side of the railroad tracks and more.

Re: The magic of tidying

Excited for you about your small visitor @Appleblossom 🙂

@Oaktree I've achieved nothing for weeks, other than add to my mess! It goes in phases...don't worry too much.

@Dimity and all - yesterday I deleted around 5,000 emails! It took hours. I accidentally deleted a rent receipt, but other than that I'm very pleased. I'm not a digital hoarder but the emails had just got out of control.

And then this morning I've tidied my bedroom completely. Not vacuumed, but that's OK as I'm just interested in making the house functional at this point. Now onto some "pottering" this afternoon - random easy tidying wherever I feel like it. The whole house is a fearsome mess so anything I do will be good.

@Dimity I hope you have a lovely day in your garden. 🙂 🌱☘🌲🌿

@NatureLover

My email mail box is full at the moment

I need to log on and empty it

I only ever seem to get junk on that one though

Great job @NatureLover

Hey @Oaktree - reminds me of my computer desktop. There's files and folders everywhere. I did a clean up last night.
