The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Yeah never bought anything before @Dimity I dont know what Im doing.
I figured out not all places are on real estate site

think a friend suggested contacting people. I sent a query about a property agent never replied. Wondering whether I should say am cash buyer.

Re: The magic of tidying

Dunno @TAB but a friend made an offer for her new place before it was on the market because the agent had given her a heads up. If it was me I'd ring to make sure I'd made contact and found someone who'd take responsibility.

Hi Everyone. @Dimity @TAB

Well….

I managed to clear up some space in my fridge for a turkey, ham and 2 Christmas puddings. It even housed a cake I’d baked the day before (orange and lemon bundt with a pomegranate drizzle to be sure).

The fridge groaned.

Amazingly the turkey has gone…but the space has somehow been taken over and we’ve come to the realisation we have to do something. Went through and threw out some old curry paste but that’s about it.

so…there’s a commitment to restricted cooking until current food is inhaled or consumed. Oh well!!

Re: The magic of tidying

Your Christmas feast sounds impressive @Delicatessen especially your cake - well done. I'm about to buy a new fridge during the Boxing Day sales, so need to start clearing out mine too.
