Sydney and surrounds Lockdown Thread

Sydney and surrounds Lockdown Thread

Hi forumites👋
I just thought I'd start a new thread to lend some support to forumites who may be experiencing lockdown in Sydney and surrounds. I'm from Melbourne and I've experienced being lockdown on many occasions so I'd like to use this thread as a way of supporting forum members who may be having a hard time right now.

I'd like to say the number 1 piece of advice I can give is to take care of yourself both mentally as well as physically.
Use this time to take it easy and do things you enjoy that might not be usually possible such as watching DVDs or catching up with Netflix and the like if that's your thing. There are plenty of great shows on those streaming devices so make the most of it. I know my housemate used the time to catch up on old episodes of All Saints and Blue Heelers as well as another friend in Perth watching the Orange Is The New Black series when they were in lockdown over there.

If the news of the numbers of people with COVID-19 is getting too much, switch off and do something else. I know that in the end, just hearing Daniel Andrews voice made me annoyed so I gradually learnt to stop listening by doing some knitting. Trust me, I knitted lots of beanies for charity by doing this!

There are other things that I did but this is for each of you to share your concerns and thoughts and experiences of what's going on for each of you so feel free to join in the discussion. Like I said, I'm in Melbourne and am only getting news from the media outlets and social media. I'm not living the lockdown in Sydney and surrounds so I can't comment on what it's like up there.

Please take care and stay strong. Lockdown is hard but it's not forever and you will get through this. I believe in each of you and know that it doesn't last.

You're an inspiration @StuF

Finding it near impossible to move today.

Can't remember when I showered last.

Place looks like a tornedo has hit.

Gorgeous outside. Trying to move away from the tv bad news to sit in the sun for even just a few minutes.

Hugs to all, why a time 😔 @Judi9877 @Judi9877 @BPDSurvivor @Owlunar @MDT

Hi @Anastasia @Judi9877 @StuF @MDT @Owlunar

Well today I went for a long walk. Then I was soaking in the sun. Now I'm just thinking whether to rest and chill or listen to some uni lectures. Whatever it is, I'm enjoying the sun!!!

Well done @BPDSurvivor , a long walk is good for the soul 🙏

I just weeded two garden beds and spread mulch I've had sitting in bags for months, Woot woot. Feel pretty good about that.

Have to stop as on ABs and can't over do it. I'll shower shortly and then not sure after that ☺️

@Judi9877 @StuF @MDT all here

I just went for a longer walk than usual- the weather is amazing.

One of the things I Love is taking photos. But I always put it off, find an excuse to not take my proper camera out and so on...

Anyway, today I veered off the beaten track (a firetrail) into the bush with my Phone camera in hand, just for fun.

Man, I'm such an idiot not doing this more often!!! The combination of being in nature and capturing images...it's a no-brainer. I should do this Every day I can!

But, not beating myself up- it was fun 🙂

Hi @Shaz51 @Anastasia @StuF @BPDSurvivor @MDT and everyone here. Once again, I'm just popping in to see how everyone is going this arvo.

Great news on the photos @StuF! Well done on getting out and having some fun with nature! What types of images do you like taking? I also like taking photos on my phone and have gathered a collection of some images I collect off Facebook and other images off the internet. I plan on trying to get some of them printed and write down peices on how they make me feel and what is happening in them as a way of expressing myself. Kind of like a photographic journal of sorts. Taking photos of waves is very emotional for me and very exciting along with most water based scenes.

As for other stuff, I did have my psychologist appointment earlier today and I have found out through some reflections and talking with them that my depression could actually be caused by my issues to do with my meds. My psychologist was really informative about the meds situation and we had a really great chat about the situation. We plan to review the situation in the next session when I'm feeling a lot better. At least I know that my feelings are okay and can be linked to issues.

All I know is I will get through this current lockdown in Melbourne someway, somehow, and I do have support behind me if I'm prepared to ask for it. Like me, I am confident that each of us are strong and we can deal with it. The figures in each of the different states, especially NSW, aren't pretty and I'm scared of what is happening with this virus to all Australians. It's not how I planned to spend the past 2 years of my life but it has been a learning experience of sorts for me as I'm sure for each of you.

Stay strong forumites and take care🥰

Judi9877☺️🌸
