Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

Well I walked to the library yesterday and then to the pharmacy and then ultimately back home. It was a good walk.

Today I did a short resistance band workout.

Well done on both counts @Oaktree . I walked to the shops too. I restarted resistance bands exercises a couple of days ago. I'd like to make it part of my routine.

@Delicatessen

I hate it when stuff like that happens- total put off. I’d keep going for now but don’t try and tough it out if it continues.
I went thru a similar situation with a group I joined . I opted out when one of the members shouted at me in front of others and I got zero support. Then they were posting memes on Facebook on ‘some’ people being weak etc.

We have to look after ourselves and for me a retreat is much more sensible for my mental health

@perspective

I have often had to retreat or withdraw ... for self protection ... and/or to work out wot was going on. Makes sense to me.

Re: Walking for Wellness

This afternoon I walked in remnant forest, a little oasis surrounded by suburbia. Very refreshing.

Nice one @Dimity

Sounds tranquil.

I am glad that you enjoyed your walk.

I am about to head out the door for some interval walking.

@Dimity @TAB @Appleblossom @perspective @sol_87

Just got back from my 30 minute interval walk. So basically you walk at a brisk pace for 5 minutes to warm up, then you do 60 seconds fast walking, then 90 seconds moderate walking. You repeat fast and moderate until you hit 28 minutes and then 2 minutes cool down. I found it quite a work out but I am really overweight and unfit. This is part of my Lite n' Easy Activate program.
