It sure is a lonely road, sometimes, @Dimity. All the time, for me. At least there is no-one to argue with and I get to watch all the television programs I choose. I can do what I want when I want, and if I want, but how I'd love a friend group with a common purpose and mutual interests. Some folks to share outings with. Alas, my life hasn't worked out that way, and I really am sad beyond imagining. I just cope by putting it out of my mind as much as possible.
I do love my studies. I didn't grow up among academics and would never have thought I could tackle university level subjects. Surprise, surprise! Of course, it's not of occupational benefit to me at this stage, but no education goes to waste. Finding my capabilities exceeded my wildest hopes is so fulfilling.
Current affairs is very interesting but very alarming, too. It's good that you have that interest. I did a term of Politics and Citizenship and found myself rather wanting, to my dismay. However, I always found politics to be repeat cycles of the same things done by different parties, so I was happy not to pay a lot of attention. And environmental issues are certainly cause for serious concern, and actions which none seem willing to commit to. They just seem to be occupied with appearances rather than effective action.
I go through my things from time to time, too, seeing what can go, leaving me with a little more room in these cramped spaces. It's nice to reminisce about some things long forgotten sometimes. Unfortunately, it also reminds me that there's not much to reminisce about in a positive way.
Summer seems to be wrapping up for the year and the colder months are ahead. It will soon be time to get the blankets out again.
Good that you have kept up your walking. I have not done as much as usual lately but still try to get a reasonable amount in each week. I actually had a bit of a run today.
