Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

Have been waking up in the middle of the night having to trot to the loo with nocturnal pee'ing. Celery juice usually fixes it but have been slack. Its been pushing blood glucose up. Was 7.1 fasting this morning, then 9 post brekky eeks! I decided to go for a walk and it brought it down from 9 to 6.5 after 30 minutes thankfully. Walking can do amazing things for diabetes! Just possibly got to see a naturopath for herbs for my bladder

..belated Happy Birthday to you @Oaktree

I was allowed to choose evening meal on my birthday so after that it became either crumbed pork chops with mash and cabbage w vinegar and cream or hotdogs 1970s style with really good saveloys and rolls that can seem to get anymore no matter how much you pay for them.

oh, after having it a someones birthday party, 'Frogs on a Pond ' became a 'thing' too ..

hope you enjoyed your cake 😁

Hi Everyone

Did a day hike last weekend which was spectacular. Waterfalls everywhere, some of which I had to walk behind as part of the track. Happily coped with some mud and bog…and a number of leeches. Successfully scrambled across creeks (for the most part). Couldn’t eat the lunch I’d prepared for myself - don’t think I drank enough. Stayed in a log cabin right in the middle of the rainforest.

Woo hoo! My quads hurt but apart from that I felt on top of the world.

And I’ll say it again….even just 5 minutes of a stroll is good for you. It’s been scientifically proven that a walk is great for mental illness. Go for it!!

Hi @Former-Member celery juice maybe my solution also. Have tried not drinking ( water - lol ) after 4pm but of no success.

Good day for walking in Melbourne today. Congratulations on getting down your blood sugars 👍👍.

Re: Walking for Wellness

I know what you mean @Former-Member Don't risk it and drink a whole head of it to begin with. You gotta build up gradually or it will make you feel queezy. 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after food. Nocturnal urination is a sign of ageing or could be bladder infection if you have not ruled that out.

Re: Walking for Wellness

I just had a brisk walk in 35 degree heat and no sun most of it in the nature reserve - it was great. I am glad I met that goal for today.

@Dimity @Former-Member @TAB and others I haven't met.

Re: Walking for Wellness

Well done for walking @Former-Member but it's good you weren't in the sun.

I skipped my walk yesterday but today I walked to the shops and back. First time I've seen red and brown onions in weeks, and they weren't too pricey.

How's your foot @TAB ? Any progress? I know you've had other concerns.
