Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

Walking for Wellness and Healthy Habits

  • So I took part in Topic Tuesday this evening on Physical Activity for Mental Health. I feel motivated so I am going to give up my couch potato ways and start to make an effort to get outside to walk for exercise. I am hoping that I will improve my mental health whilst losing weight and increasing fitness. I am going to keep you updated about my progress here. Feel free to join in - the more the merrier! Maybe we can help motivate each other.

@Delicatessen glad you're out in nature. My great-uncle walked in his 80s and 90s, as a former mountaineer (helped with Duke of Edinburgh awards in UK).

A friend's mother walked up to 3 hrs a day in her 90s. She's currently 103 1/2.

I feel very inadequate.

Hey @Dimity @Oaktree @Delicatessen @TAB @oceangirl my blood sugar was 6.9 upon rising. Took some psyllium husk then celery juice followed by 1 weetbix, raspberries and soy. Thought my blood sugar would go up. I did the resistance band training exercises Dimity gave me. They were great to do. Morning and night. Went for a 20 minute walk this morning and tested blood sugar and was down to 5.4. Have a tele appointment with my diabetes educator soon today.

Re: Walking for Wellness

Just got to get blood sugar down upon rising @TAB. But yeah its hard!

I did see a foot audio by sapien medicine that heals the feet. I saw people with heavy foot pain say it stopped the pain in their feet. Some commented they had plantar fasciitis

I think I may have had a disk in my back get ruptured or something was in so much pain could not walk last year. Listened to Sapiens Spinal Tap and no more pain since October late last year. Did not need physio. Anyway my back feels great now. It used to be agony...

Sounds as though you're on the right track @Former-Member . I hope your diabetes educator thinks so too.

I've been waking up with calf muscle cramps, Dr Google says I'm prob dehydrated.

Guess what @TAB I just spoke to my diabetes educator on the phone and she asked me what my current weight was and I've lost weight Yeeha! I can't believe it. I have also lost a notch on my belt. So yes am losing weight rapidly. She wants me to do a blood test on Friday to fix my meds as she wants the fasting glucose level down from 6 point something to 4 - 5.5

Re: Walking for Wellness

I've lost 9 on the scales @TAB but your 5cm around waist is amazing! You'll lose it again. Have courage! You will be ok

I never thought I would lose so much. I reckon I could easily lose another 10. I don't know how much of it is due to diabetes med, carbs counting, resistance band or exercise but its coming off!!

I also use an earthing mat and that also raises your metabolic rate. You can put it under your desk or on your bed and you can trim down easily by drawing negative electrons from the earth. I lost a lot last time I was in regular habit of using it but at the time there were no studies correlating it with weightloss. But yes it is so
