Welcome and getting started

Hey all and I mean all

Hey all and I mean all

I've been living in the dark by myself for the past 10+ years with depression, schizophrenia and/or schizoaffecitve disorder I'm still trying to figure it out with my psychiatrist. But after all this time I feel I am starting to get my life together or as much as possible. Just wondering how people with mental health issues are going with work and having a family and relating to friends? I had a normal upbringing and was good at sports my whole life till I got diagnosed with a mental health issue (still figuring out what it is). Just a big warm hello and I hope we can fight this to the end. Just wondering if you guys can share any tips or life experiences with me going forward.

kindest regards,

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hi @Former-Member,

Thanks for getting in touch. The past few days have been better, thanks. I have been busy and looking forward to the joys of spring. The sun has been shining which lifts my spirits. I am also only partially cured by meds but not to the point where I have been able to work or seek a job. It's a rocky road. I build myself up then the voices tear me down. At the moment I'm ok. I hope it stays that way for a while and I hope all will be well for you. I am hoping for Christmas with my brother who lives about an hour away. I haven't seen him in quite a while due to lockdowns. If I'm really lucky I could spend my Birthday with him in early October. obviously Father's Day is out. Poor Dad's across the east coast.

Hi @HenryX thanks for your input and I'll check out the videos! But as far as my drinking goes I only drink very little to be honest and yeah maybe it's not a good idea broadcasting it on the page as others may get the wrong impression. Having said that.. hope you have a lovely day and yeah... look forward to chatting again

@Lost9 Wish you all the best in seeing the family it may become possible too with the jabs taking place and by Christmas gatherings will take place.

I'm still looking for work.. I have almost no voices just the internal dialogue these days. Pushing on through. Hopefully something presents it self soon as lockdown is getting a bit tedious.

all the best bud

Hey @Lost9 @HenryX @TAB @NatureLover @Bunniekins thanks for the support.

just reading over it and acknowledging how far I've come.

im cycling now with a friend, revisiting the idea of studying for something purposeful, playing Pokémon go and helping the parents out around the house.

hope you guys are well!

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Sounds Good @Former-Member on my phone I saved a note about some famous Irish woman who was being interviewed on the radio as I drove to work in the dark 6 years ago.

they were asking the 'big' career/life questions

She said it boils down to 3 things to be Happy

to be useful

and to be Kind.

her career included being a foreign editor in the media, an economist, a dancer, a mathematician and a journalist lol

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hi @Former-Member

Good to see you about. Pleased that you feel that you have made progress in whatever ways are important to and for you.

Cycling is something I have talked about here. I have to get a puncture fixed - may be time for thorn proof tubes.

Like you, even at my end of the age spectrum, further studies are likely to help keep me ticking over for a while. My activity, in terms of correspondence with other members, has helped to awaken new interests and alert me to capabilities that I had forgotten or not realised that I still had.

With Best wishes

@HenryX

Hi @Former-Member @HenryX @MDT @TAB @NatureLover

I'm glad itsjustme is doing well and thinking of studying. Glad you are considering it too Henryx. Probably would be an activity to suit lockdown which is something we are fairly conscious about here in Victoria. I hope by Christmas we are all out of lockdown and back to a relative normal. Let 2022 be a good year for all and a fresh start for some.

Best wishes,
