Welcome and getting started

Hey all and I mean all

Hey all and I mean all

I've been living in the dark by myself for the past 10+ years with depression, schizophrenia and/or schizoaffecitve disorder I'm still trying to figure it out with my psychiatrist. But after all this time I feel I am starting to get my life together or as much as possible. Just wondering how people with mental health issues are going with work and having a family and relating to friends? I had a normal upbringing and was good at sports my whole life till I got diagnosed with a mental health issue (still figuring out what it is). Just a big warm hello and I hope we can fight this to the end. Just wondering if you guys can share any tips or life experiences with me going forward.

kindest regards,

Re: Hey all and I mean all

@Lost9 How're you doing? This new medication has me going crazy, just mentally... I'm trying to fight these demons but have lost hope for now... trying to sort out a trip to the psych and fix these meds and face challenges like everyone else, not just the demons.

Hi @Former-Member ,

So sorry to hear you are facing Meds challenges. They drive me up the wall too. If they work I have memory and concentration problems and if the don't work and I need new Meds they are very sedating. I hope the Demonds don't bother you too much. They are shuch a constant struggle and very invasive. I think seeing your Psyc. Is a good idea. Good on you for organising that. I hope you are able to distract yourself meanwhile. Be kind to yourself and do some pampering.

Best wishes,

lost9

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hi @Former-Member ,

I'm glad it's a better day for you. Yes hallucinations and delusions do seem very real. You need to have a reality check by constantly questioning them. If you have a family member or friend you can trust, ask them if they experienced what you experienced. It can help you work out what is real and what is a delusion and/or hallucination.

Hang in there and look after yourself.

Re: Hey all and I mean all

@Lost9 How you doing these days? I've found my meds working well now I have so much energy. But no one is giving me a chance. I feel like they all know I have schizophrenia. I have posted on fb about MI and moving forward. But wtf do likes mean anyway. I have read through all what I have said and it makes sense to me @NatureLover @TAB @HenryX @Bunniekinsthanks for supporting me. though I didn't understand at the time I do now. I've experienced hell mentally and am partially cured with meds. I hope and you are not bothered by me being here talking to you as the real world has a biased opinion if I open up to them. Hoping for me I can go to work very soon and this lockdown madness ends.

It's great that you feel comfortable in this space, with other forum members. Pleased, also, to know that med'n is working for you. If you're having a few drinks, the three youtube videos, from which I have gained a fair bit recently, may be worth looking at later on.

The story of Dr. Gregory P. Smith is of a different path of trauma and difficulty, carrying his history with him, making it useful for himself and others.

I am, at times, wary of the idea, often presented, that other people, just like you and me, have achieved great things. We are not all cut out to be accomplished Doctors of our respective areas of experience and interest, no matter what our background might be. However, we can often derive ideas and hope, for a better future, from their stories.

I do hope that the stories of these two people will give you ideas, inspiration and hope for your own better future.

With My Very Best Wishes
