Welcome and getting started

Hey all and I mean all

Hey all and I mean all

I've been living in the dark by myself for the past 10+ years with depression, schizophrenia and/or schizoaffecitve disorder I'm still trying to figure it out with my psychiatrist. But after all this time I feel I am starting to get my life together or as much as possible. Just wondering how people with mental health issues are going with work and having a family and relating to friends? I had a normal upbringing and was good at sports my whole life till I got diagnosed with a mental health issue (still figuring out what it is). Just a big warm hello and I hope we can fight this to the end. Just wondering if you guys can share any tips or life experiences with me going forward.

kindest regards,

@MDT everything in my life just boils down to my diagnosis which I may have had in my upbringing but never picked up early anyway that's what my psych says. Can just accept learn and move on!!!

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hi @Former-Member ,

Thanks for your concern. I still find the world a bit topsy turvy but I have been up and about. I'm not studying or working at the moment. I couldn't concentrate for long enough and my memory is terrible these days. However, I have been enjoying the summer weather and I have just spent the week end with my brother and his partner sightseeing. I think I have had my exercise for the week!

How are you getting along?

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hi @Lost9 @thanks for getting back to me, what you said about life sometimes stinking resonated with me, as the meds work things around me went downhill, but am slowly shifting my attitude and plan as I read that it may take upto 5 years to find your feet once you get the medication working, but I've been taking meds since 2016... don't know, maybe just a rough patch lol...

im happy you've been able to have a holiday with your brother and his misus exercise is good I've just recently bought a punching thing that comes back and forward... good to hear from you I hope things start getting better for me as I feel it should.

hope all is well with you and merry Christmas and happy New Years to you... here's to a good 2022

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hey @Former-Member. I've got severe depression, recently found out that I've got chronic suicidality, and I'm now finding out if I've also got another mental illness and possibly another undiagnosed health disorder. Scary times! But for now I'm doing all right. I agree, let's fight our battles to the very end! These forums are a good place for moral support in that regard, for sure!!! I hope you're doing all right too!

Re: Hey all and I mean all

@Former-Member employers don't need to know your mental health history. Only tell them what you need them to know in relation to your experiences with work and how your new job will help you. It's sad that people still think they can delve into anybody's business whenever they want. So many bloody judgmental know-it-alls in this world.

Re: Hey all and I mean all

Hey and welcome to the forums haven’t seen you around @Former-Member yeah it’s a tough world to please atm but I think that pleasing the world isn’t in my job description, saying that I would never tell an employer about my condition, unless I was aware that they’d respond positively but saying that I don’t really have any symptoms that would deter my ability to work..

@Lost9 hoping things progressively get better thatwhich I can start enjoying the little things, as you mentioned the meds play a little with my memory too… anyways I won’t bore you with my issues have a good day still figuring my situation out, but I think I will just be myself and try and have fun with life… all i can do
