Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Hey everyone, we are in LOCKDOWN again! And I hate it. I'm really over it like everyone else.
But, we can't control it, we can't tell the government that we don't like it and they'll stop the lockdown so let's do the best we can.
Why don't we use this thread to support each other.

So I'll start us off with three things I could do before the end of the day to fill in time. They can big or small. You can also do absolutely nothing which is fine too.

- Take our kids for 1 hour of exercise as a family

- Go for a run to fill up the rest of the allocated exercise time (and get my personal time in)

- Build Fort with biggest small human child (already done haha)

What can you do today?

How are you feeling about lockdown?

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Hi there @Shaz51 . Thanks for the tag and the support!

It's been cold down here in Melbourne despite the odd sunny periods so I've been drinking plenty of coffee to stay warm and knitting the front of a baby jumper for charity. I've also just had some fruit scones for afternoon tea with another coffee. Today my housemate and I have stayed home and ordered in for lunch as we couldn't be bothered going out, not that there's much to do anyway with most things being closed. At least we've been behaving ourselves and doing the right thing by the government and health officials unlike some people in society who don't care about the rules. I can't tell you how many school aged kids I saw at the local shops yesterday who should've been home doing remote learning going out with their relevant care givers. It's like some kids see this as another period of holidays and the parents allow this. I'm getting sick of hearing the news as all it seems to be about in the first headline is the COVID-19 situation and what the government is/isn't doing and the latest places people have been who have now got the virus that the contact tracers have to track down people with. It's stressful but slightly monotonous now and boring due to the same old thing.

My sister would probably be right in with the word games on the computer as she loves those types of games. She challenges people on her phone with word games along with having played Candy Crush and Harry Potter games in the past. Do you play Scrabble on the computer? I used to have a golf game on my old flip phone back in the day that I use to play at night when I couldn't sleep at uni despite hating golf as a sport and that was fun. I also got sucked into playing Angry Birds at one time not knowing that it was originally designed to teach kids all about physics of all things. I think I'll stick to playing Mario Bros games in my iPhone if I get bored which is rare as I usually prefer to sleep than play computer games!

Take care and thanks again for the kind and supportive words.

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

hello to all my fellow forum friends who are also in Lockdown and today was day five ok so begin with I slept in till lunchtime againthen had a hot shower and lunch and then for hours I scrolled on Facebook this afternoon out of boredom,my teenage brother was feeling unwell so I let him rest today and he contacted his teacher to have a day off from remote learning,he spent the day on the couch curled up on either his phone or Play station four or his phone and yes I allowed him to have an easy day but tomorow its back to remote learning,I also decluterd my room again this time focussing on my wardrobe and folded, put away the washing that has been sitting on kitchen table for the last two days, then I watched an interesting true story movie on Netflix and made dinner,Pasties and Veggies, tried to watch a bit of news but yes that was too dramatic and same old news, we all just had some hot chocolate as a pick me up,unfortunetly no marshmallows but still good, its a cold night again, thank you to @Judi9877 @ArraDreaming @Shaz51 @WIP @BPDSurvivor @Snowie for checking in on this thread and for everyones postive words and vents and whoever said we can just try to sleep, eat, self care, debrief, vent,Reachout thats true Im just taking one day at a time thats all we can do,we are strong and we will somehow get through

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Hi @LostAngel @ArraDreaming @Judi9877 @Shaz51 @WIP

I'm just setting myself goals for each day and taking each day as it comes. These are achievable goals so that I can say I've been 'successful' at the end of each day.

If I look at the big picture, then I get stressed and overwhelmed.

Step-by-step... that's the way....go slow to go far...start small to achieve big.

Fabulous approach @BPDSurvivor

I'm trying the same thing - small goals to begin with, then build myself up if I can. If I can't, it's not the end of the world, I'll just have to try again the next day.

Got 3 hours of remote DBT class 2mrw, so that will take out a chunk of my day. I enjoy class, but emotionally it's full on and takes a lot out of me. It takes a bit for me to recover.

Just read online that lockdown will be extended - for how long, we'll find out tomorrow. I just hope this doesn't get out of hand and lives begin to be lost.

Hugs, WIP

Today is another day in lockdown. Sun is shining here so might try and take the dog for a walk. Hoping I can motivate myself 😬😬

I hope all of your days go well and you can get some me moments in there.

Take care all xoxo

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

good Afternoon @Snowie @ArraDreaming @WIP @BPDSurvivor @Judi9877 and anyone else Ive forgotten, thats a great idea Snowie to get out and do some excercise the weather has been freezing here this morning and as yet I havnt left the house for excercise or driving as I cant currently drive car yet anyway as it still hasnt been repaired, but back to today,I woke up,had a hot shower, made my bed and spent quite some time trying to convince the teenager to get into a better routine sleep wise as he stayed up till midnight last night on gaming /Play Station 4 ect which ment he was late to get up up for todays remote learning but after a firm discussion on boundaries he did get up,showered, dressed, ate his breakfast and got some school work done thank goodness after that I had delivery driver show up with a parcel of online clothes shopping, followed by all the household helping with some housework before lunch, now its the afternoon and everyones doing relaxed activities and the teenager can now do fun things like gaming, his phone and laptop ect and so can the rest of us as well The sun is starting to shine more this afternoon and I could mean that in two ways, hope it doesnt sound like Ive been harsh or anything just trying to have a better arrangement regarding sleep routine and getting the important things like eating, showering and schoolwork done first, now its defenitly relaxing time for everyone, the one thing I keep trying to do is to declutter the house room by room that keeps me busy and on my feet instead of being on the couch for too long, maybe now for some hot chocolate or a cup of tea stay well and keep warm everyone

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Hi @LostAngel @ArraDreaming @Snowie @WIP @BPDSurvivor @Shaz51 and everyone here. How is life going in lockdown?

There have been new developments on the lockdown front with regional Victoria coming out of lockdown yet Melbourne stuck in it for another week. We are allowed to travel up to 10kms away from home though. Lucky us!

I've continued to struggle the past few days with this whole thing and my GP said today on my phone appointment that it is the result of lockdown with my paranoia taking effect and suicidal ideation happening again. I am safe and he knows about it so I'll keep monitoring it as things happen. It's just really stressful that's all.

Time to go. I'll check in later. Take care!

Re: Lockdown 4 - let’s get around each other

Hi fellow lockdown friends @Judi9877 @LostAngel @Jay5 @Snowie @BPDSurvivor @Shaz51 and everyone else. How's everyone going after the announcement of another 7 days in lockdown?

To be honest, I'm glad the number of new community cases is only 6, but quite concerned about this particular Covid strain. It seems to spread much more easily than the strain from last year.

Im feeling for the elderly, all the businesses that have had to shut, with so much uncertainty of when they'll be able to open up again, the parents trying to home school and ppl like us - struggling with pre existing mental health issues, that could become worse the longer the lockdown is in place.

Im about to take my pup out for a walk, the suns out, but its a bit chilly.

Stay strong and safe x

Big news about the lockdown, sending my care and support!

Incredibly insightful to be so aware of your feelings and thoughts. Please let us all know if you need any extra support during this time.
I'm very happy to hear your GP is in the loop and you're safe for now.
