Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Well done @Adge not sure how you do it. I couldnt say No to things at work so ended up hurting myself

Re: Daily Achievements!

Thanks @TAB Yes hurting yourself is not worth it.

Hope you're recovering okay.

I've been put in Risky Work Situations by Very Dodgy Work Practices (in the past).

These Garbage Truck are really dangerous - The Lifting Arm (Bin Lifter) is very powerful.

Especially since it can lift huge Industrial Sized Bins.

If I had put my Arm/ Hand in the wrong spot, whilst attaching the Bins (by hand) - I could have lost my arm (quite easily).

I did not think about that much - but it is potentially very scary.

Good evening @Meowmy @TAB @Adge @Eve7 @RedHorse @MDT @Shaz51 @Dimity @Daisydreamer @tyme @Former-Member @pinklollipop15 and everyone here.

@Adge you’re doing a great job with your achievements! Well done!

Today (Sunday) has been spent at home but I still managed to get some things done which I regard as achievements which were:

- Brought the garbage bin in from out in the street from Friday’s collection day

- Had a shower

- Finished off a baby jumper for Ukraine collection

- Started another baby beanie for Ukraine

- Worked on my crochet blanket for myself

- Had lunch and dinner

- Had an afternoon rest on my bed

Keep those achievements coming! You are each wonderful and achievements deserve to be celebrated no matter how big or small.

Take care!

Re: Daily Achievements!

Hey there daily achievements folks…

As a visual person I find that seeing illustrations or information provided in a illustrative way can be more accessible to me & I recently came across this info graph which I feel can relate to the discussions and shared experiences you have here around the theme of acknowledging our daily achievements.

What do you all make of this info graph?

I think I wanted to share it here specifically because I can reflect on the various themes that come about on the day to day experience of a person’s journey living with various mental health challenges.

And we are often recognising those daily achievements here or being witness to others. I think, to me this sits under the idea of RE-EMPOWERMENT which some examples are shown in the picture.

Can you relate to any of these themes recently & are open to sharing the way you might see it as a daily achievement?

RE-EMPOWERMENT

⭐️ Building competence

⭐️ Purpose & meaning

⭐️ Agency

⭐️ Healthy aggression

⭐️ Using your voice

⭐️ Standing up for yourself

⭐️ Thinking for yourself

⭐️ Setting boundaries

⭐️ Saying no

I might offer something that came to mind for me to start things off -
which is relevant to ⭐️ Using your voice

Recently I have had to have some uncomfortable and difficult conversations with people.
So I chose ‘using your voice’ - as it fits perfectly in that category.

In the context of MH experience I’ve often had experiences of not being heard & disempowered by others which has required me to find my voice in times when it’s really hard to speak up.

From my point of view, this can be an exhausting experience, one which at times is actually more harmful to me to speak up, and in those situations, personal preservation comes first.

But when I have these types of exchanges they often impact me for days after, I have found myself needing extra self care & calling in of support around me.
And with my recent example I have in mind, I found myself seeking additional support through counselling and therapists as well as reaching out to friends and family to help me through daily supports such as cooking dinner, connecting socially through going for walks in nature and having time to enjoy something for myself everyday.

I’d like to acknowledge the courage it takes to use our voices and the sometimes difficult, yet empowering journey of getting there.
Definitely worthy of a #dailyachievements

I'm curious, does the info graphic above bring up anything to you regarding re-empowerment & recognising our achievements?

Just tagging some folks who are around these traps at various times...

Re: Daily Achievements!

um @Former-Member I think my daily achievements at least are to do with survival and not going backwards.

I have always struggled with the things in your graphic whether things going well in my life or not.

Two separate things for me.

one, doing what I can on a day to day basis

the other, well something that is not part of my life
