Daily Achievements!

Daily Achievements!

Hi forum friends! I've decided to start a new thread on Daily Achievements because I suffer from depression as one of my mental illness and that means it's often hard for me to remind myself that I do actually things in my day, no matter how small they may be. I thought forumites could post here a daily achievement or 2 so we can remind ourselves that we have done something good each day. It can be as big or as small as you like. Just as long as what you did makes you proud and happy.

I'm tagging @roses @Bow @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @saltandpepper @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @TideisTurning @Former-Member @frog @Sans911 @outlander

in case you might be interested as well as anyone else who wants to join in!

So, to get this discussion started, I'll post my achievements today which are:

- I had a gorgeous cup of tea which helped me deal with some anxiety I was experiencing;

- I paid my car registration which was due today.

See what I mean about achievements? Mine may seem small or irrelevant to some people but to me, because I have depression, these are actually major in the scheme of my life. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Good evening @LookingHopeful @oceangirl @Meowmy @TAB @Former-Member @LostAngel @tyme @Daisydreamer @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Former-Member @frog @MDT and all forumites here. Well done on your achievements⭐️👍🏻!

@oceangirl Wow! You achieved a lot in your day. Well done!

@LookingHopeful great job on getting things done!

@Meowmy I’m so proud of what you’ve achieved despite being sick. Great job!

@Former-Member I wish I could be so organised like you are with your days! I tend to take things day by day, hour by hour at times and hope I get things completed in time. I also struggle with motivation especially with uni which I desperately need to work on!

Today, I achieved the following things:

- I worked on another knitted beanie which I’m really enjoying knitting at the moment

- I had pepperoni pizza for dinner

- I collected some deliveries for my housemate when she was out

- I helped out the landlord when he came over to do some repairs

- I watched some of the cricket on TV

- I had a shower

- I listened to some music - New Kids On The Block- on my iPhone

Take care!

Re: Daily Achievements!

This is such a cool idea for a thread. It’s so wholesome to see a bunch of people who are all recognising how hard “simple” tasks can be and genuinely congratulating each other on doing them.

I recently listened to a podcast episode called “How to Do Hard Things - Part 1” from the podcast “Hacking Your ADHD” and while there are significant differences between ADHD and depression I thought a lot of what was talked about was applicable to both. For example, “oftentimes there are things that we can do to make our lives easier, but doing those things isn't necessarily easy in and of itself. E.g. if you get an adequate amount of sleep, it can make nearly everything you do so much easier. However, doing the things that will help you get that sleep can be incredibly difficult.” Or, “if we find ourselves struggling to complete something that we think should be easy, then it is in fact, not easy. We have the evidence that it isn't easy in the fact that we're struggling to do it. It's not because we're bad people it's because that task is actually not easy for us. And it's okay if something that we imagine should be easy, isn't.” Or “take one of those nagging issues in your life and see if you can redefine what done looks like. Make sure to really think about what you want to get out of finishing that task. What, not only would make the task easier for you to complete, but what would make it more functional in your life?”

And I’d like to add my congratulations to the chorus for everyone on this thread who has done something that was not easy for them.
