Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

@BlueBay. Woke up and the sun is shinning and my house is clean. It's a great day.
You have a few days to think about where you would like to take hubby on Sunday. That sounds so good to hear you making plans fof the two of you. Just getting out and enjoying each others company.
Hope your day at work is good and fhat the med change settles down soon

Hi @utopia@Decadian@Faith-and-Hope@NikNik

I have a session next Saturday with my therapist of 5 yrs (most likely the last session ever). I am trying not to think about it but every time i do i am crying.

I tried to write a letter to him thanking him for the last 5 yrs of therapy but i can't even do that.

Last thursday was bad enough when he told me he can't help me anymore. The emotions were running for a few days. The anger, tears, frustration, guilt etc etc.

I think it is only the right thing or nice thing to do is to go, have a session and reflect on the past 5 yrs. But how do you say goodbye, how do you say thanks and walk away.

i don't know what to do. i am so emotional this morning. No one understands how letting go is so difficult, how hard it is to say thank you and goodbye to someone. He has shared some of my most inner personal stuff, trauma of my childhood and the rest of my mental illness issues.

any advice pls.

Good morning 💐🌷

Maybe say it in pictures @BlueBay ..... ?

Can you take a moment to either draw or trace over a special mandala from your colouring book and use it on the front of a card that simply says "thank you for everything" .... ?

If you put the page up against a window or door with the light coming thru behind it, you can put another piece of paper over it and trace it off quite easily .... you can even use small spots of masking tape to keep it there while you work.

If you go to an art supplier, you can use a thin plastic sheet and colour it in textas, so the mandala ends up looking like stained glass .... punch a hole in the top when it's finished, and it can hang in a window on a thin ribbon ....

Just a thought .... but if you like how it turns out, maybe you could sell those online along with your knitting ... ?

Hi @BlueBay

I do know how hard it is to say Goodbye to a long term professional person - my GP was my doctor for 35 years - his whole time in General Practice.

He had been there through the darkest years of my life - and the worst time of all - how could I say goodbye to him?

I wanted to write something - I couldn't - I understand that you can't - it was a hard time for both of us - and he was holding my hands in his while I cried - and I told him what was in my heart.

Apart from my family I knew him longer than anyone else in my life - and I had been able to ring him whenever he was there and he was the Family Doctor -

So my thoughts - tell him what is in your heart - tell him through the tears - you have been through the toughest parts of your life with this professional - and all of these have to end - it is the nature of the thing

Yes - I understand - and I have tears in my eyes right now - I understand how damned hard it all can be

If I had more pics saved I would have one to show you how your life appears to me - like surf - really wild surf - beautiful and tricky -

Thinking of you particularly this morning

Re: Life after hospital

Can you go for a walk @BlueBay .... get out into the environment and calm down your emotions .... ?

I meant for you to give the gift without writing anything at all .... just giving a gift instead.

❤

Morning @BlueBay

Zahlia here. Unfortunately Nik Nik and the other mods aren't here today.

That is great advice @Faith-and-Hope; have you tried stepping outside for a moment and trying some mindfulness exercises? Deep breathing, taking in your surroundings.. listen to all the sounds you can hear.

Let us know how you are doing sadgirl

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. I like @Faith-and-Hope suggestion. A card that simply says thank you. Sometimes keeping it simple works the best. And your therapist has known you for 5 years. He will know how much you are thankful for.
Personalise the card. What happened to the Mandala you were coloring in - that you were going to give him?
When you get to your session - the right words of thanks will come.
So today - focus on finishing the mandala. Take a walk. Put some music on. And focus on now - not the future.

@utopia@Zahlia@Faith-and-Hope@Decadian

I ended up driving to a shopping centre to order my new glasses. Need to wear them all the time now, have to get multi-focal. I have come home and it is nice and sunny so i will go outside and sweep around and just potter. i need to clean the showers but that can wait for another day. I could have sat inside all day but i know it's not good for me.

I have calmed myself down now. @Faith-and-Hope that is what i will do - just do a mandela. I had to unpick the baby blanket i am crocheting because for some stupid reason it wasn't working out, it was getting smaller and narrower. So i will start again.

Grocery shopping later with hubby and walk later on. Tomorrow i am working for 3 hours, watch the footy with hubby. Kids will be out at their mates houses and my daughter will be working.

The high of my emotions were quite high and now it is back to being okay. Let's hope i stay ok for the rest of the day.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay

You are getting multi-focal lenses - that is fantastic - you will be so pleased

No wonder you have had headaches - I used to wear contact lenses - wore them for many many years but went to bi-focals when I was at university - looking at the board and then at my notes and back to the lecturer was making me feel really queasy -

And then in the library looking for a book in the stacks - moving my head like a parrot - up and down - up and down - really bad for the neck mucles

And multi-focals - wonderful -

These will make a huge difference to your life - esp as your job requires you to read small print - no more wondering where you have left your glasses

It means good news to me - and this is going to make a difference
