Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Re: Life after hospital

Thanks everyone for your support.

Today I did things for myself or what i wanted or needed to do. Hubby has taken today and tomorrow off work (i don't know why) and he is so annoyed and angry with everyone.

He has just cracked it with my older son, they tend to clash a lot. Another thing - everytime i talk to the kids about something for eg. remind them to pay their bill etc. hubby will pop up and repeat what i had just said to them again. It's like he has to say something to. But tyhen the kids get so annoyed with him because they had already heard it from me.

so at the moment he has cracked it and is in the study on the computer. oh well i am staying well away. we have so much stuff to do around the house but he won't get started.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay.. Perhaps with your hubby he feels the need to support you with disciplining the kids. Kids tend to accuse parents of 'nagging' them to 'clean up their rooms, do the dishes, pick up after themselves' etc. Your hubby's desire to 'throw a sickie' is HIS choice, not yours. If you, to him, took the kids side against him, after he tried to support you with discipline, he is going to stop supporting you in everything. Even though you may feel he overstepped the discipline, to him, he was supporting you. Kids need to know their parents are a 'united front', if they believe they can play mum against dad, they will. Yes, he is angry because he has no idea what he did wrong. He actually did the right thing, he was supporting you and he feels let down.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @pip

I understand what you're saying. It's just that the kids hate him nagging at them all the time. He is always whinging and carrying on about them leaving their shoes at the front door. Ok i know it's messy and i don't like it too, but telling the kids over and over drives them crazy and us too.

It's so hard at times bringing up children and disciplining them. And ours are adults.

Re: Life after hospital

I can see what you mean about hubby @pip.
@BlueBay, you have been asking him to take time off work to support you. And maybe he chose today and tomorrow because of your psych no longer working with you. Meaning you have less support and he may be trying to be there for you.
How about you and hubby do something tomorrow - just the two of you. Take a picnic lunch and go and find your favorite spot looking over the water. Just you and he relaxing. I think it would do you both some good.
Communication can be hard at times between partners. Please don't let this small issue - get to big. Why not go into the study - put your arms around him & suggest you and he have that special walk and lunch tomorrow.
I bet you he will smile again.
Sending happy loving vibes to you and your hubby.

@utopia

that's the trouble I can't. I just can't go into the study and put my arms around him. OK, i get it he probably did take these two days off because of what a horrible week i had.

We are now sitting in the lounge room watching tv with our kids. he is okay with me. You're right i think we will spend the afternoon together at the beach tomorrow. I have a few appts in the morning but free rest of the day. Good idea @utopia

I am such an idiot. I just can't be intimate with hubby at all. What is wrong with me? OK, no i'm not going there now, i had a good day i am not going to spoil it.

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. Forget the hug. If intimacy is too hard at the moment - don't go there.
But maybe tomorrow you can thank him for taking time off and being with you.
It's always nice to feel appreciated.
Enjoy your day tomorrow
