Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Re: Life after hospital

I'm feeling a bit strange today. Had session with my regular therapist and he had a student therapist in room which I didn't know. I was a bit thrown back and angry. Anyway getting my hair coloured now and then clean the house. I wish all this pain would go away.

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. Not good when you have strangers when you're trying to talk privately. You know you have the right to ask the student to leave if you're not comfortable. Each time you see your therapist, that is your time, with the therapist. My psych used to regularly do this. I asked him one day to refrain, as I felt it impacted on our time. You should have been consulted. Don't blame you for feeling angry. I too wish your pain would go. You need to be pain-free.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay

It's really good that you felt angry about that student - you are finding your way - as hard as it is

btw - you don't have to have a student present at your interviews - did your therapist ask you if you minded having a student present? - because he should have.

I have had a few interviews with students present - I have always been asked and mostly it's okay with me but if I have been struggling I do not want a student present - after all - we don't know these students - as much as they need the experience - and if things are tough - no - I have said no - and this has been respected

But how great you feel angry - this would have been a disaster a few weeks ago

And so great you are getting your hair coloured - I keep thinking about it - why not? It great to change something you have to wear every day - wonderful

I read that you wish you could go back to hospital - aw gee - there are days I would like some of that kind of - ah - peace I think - I have that in my own home - maybe someone else looking after the outside things in my life while I thrash through the undergrowth inside

It's not easy - I know this - but getting angry - that is a good sign

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @Former-Member

How are you going? I have been thinking of you and was wondering how you are.

I have noticed that what i am starting to do, which i never did before is: when i am emotional, crying, angry etc etc I stop and say to myself 'who am i angry with; what i am angry at' - it lets me stop and think rationally why i am angry.

It's hard work to get through but I hope it can be done.

Take care, hope to hear from you soon. xxxooo

Re: Life after hospital

This morning i had a session with my psych. He knew I was angry because he didn't call me back. He wanted to know how i was going with the increased meds - told him I have had headaches, actually even today i had a terrible headache which was going to be a migraine. He wants to see me in 2 weeks to see how i go. My exhaustion is easing off in the morning but i am still going to bed very early 8.30pm and sleep all night and then don't really want to get up. Buy i told him that by te afternoon i am buggered and need a rest. we will re-assess meds in a few weeks.

I told my psych about me calling the CAT team a few times over the week and he would have known as they told me they were going to pass the info onto him. I told him something about my bad negative thoughts and why I chat online with lifeline. We talked for a while as to why and what i say to them and i started to cry because what he told me was so true. I don't want to say on here because i feel so ashamed and embarassed and disgusted with myself. But my psych knows me too well and he told me why i do that he was so damn right. He suggested I try to work on this because i end up back to square one each and every time i use Lifeline. Why do i do these things and then tell him what i do and now feel so bad about myself.

I then had an appt with my GP, by this stage my headache was getting a whole lot worse. Over the eyes and stabbing pains in my head. he checked my BP and that was good surprising, so i went home and took a migraine tablet and slept for an hour. migraine gone now, let's hope it doesn't come back tomorrow when i am at work.
