Moving forward

Moving forward

As Monday looms I have been trying to work out how to move forward. Today I started collecting things for my coping box (thanks @Crazy_Bug_Lady). I bought some of my fave chocolates to put in and have been gathering bits and pieces. Happy for any other suggestions as to what to put in. I think I may need one for the car too. I'm thinking I may copy some pieces of wisdom from this forum and print them up to add in.

I'm hoping that I get to write more on this thread than the struggle thread as time goes by. Please feel free to add how you are moving forward as well. 💜😊

Thanks @Kurra. Was that before your new medication?

Re: Moving forward

I think @Former-Member ive spent the last 20 months learning about my emotions and understanding them. I'm wondering if now that I know them better I have to push through the next part. I can totally understand how there can be different experiences and opinions with this. I suppose I don't really know what will work for me yet but I feel a step closer.

Re: Moving forward

@Former-Member I get the behavioral/emotional too, just I think in a different way. I turn my emotions off. I don't feel things when I'm not well.
I need to learn to open up, and trust and be vulnerable, and feel good things and feel bad things..... I've never had an intimate/long term relationship and I wonder how all of you have, and I am so jealous!!!!
It's great that you had the thoughts and not the sway of emotions, and not the fear. I thinks that's amazing! Do you have a therapist? I hope you tell them!

Re: Moving forward

I like that @Kurra...do more of what you really put off. Putting oneself out there and seeing what happens.
At worst you can go home later and reconnect what happened.
Yep, most definitely a good one!

@Former-Member...read perfectly well to me. All many good answers.
Great question @Former-Member. 💜😊

Re: Moving forward

Yes it was @Former-Member. It took me about 12 years after diagnosis to reach my light bulb moment. It's now 26 years since I was labeled.

@Former-Member
Every time I was hospitalised I would rapidly decline. Alarmingly so. I eventually realised that each time I ended up in hospital I stopped fighting hence my rapid decline.

So I keep fighting but I do so in a very structured manner. Don't worry, I've always managed to dance to a different band from most people but according to my psychiatrist, my history of epilepsy confounds the issue and does impact on my bipolar. Mind you I haven't had a fit for 43 years! 😉

Re: Moving forward

I have to confess this discussion has me fired up, and I'm interested in your experiences, but I don't want to hammer you with questions. (I'm a bit.... blunt... not good at being sensitive at least.)

But do you go up and down regularly? Are there triggers? What did you do to learn about your emotions?
Feel free to not answer any and ALL of my questions btw.

Which one of us are you talking to @Former-Member?

Re: Moving forward

@Former-Member I hope you will have a long term intimate relationship one day. Neither of mine have worked out that well. I think all the work you will do with a psychologist logist will help with this. I look back at my emotional immaturity and lack of understanding of so many things and I hope to do it differently again one day. I was perhaps a bit like you with being closed emotionally and not ever being able to be vulnerable until I worked with my last psychologist. I had held secrets that I hadn't told anyone for nearly 30 years until last year. I guess she opened up a whole new can of worms for me but I think very worthwhile now. I have always been emotionally dependent on someone else. What they felt I did to a large degree which has caused all sorts of complications for me.

I guess I feel much hope for you with this. Have faith, when you least expect it is the saying that I believe.

And I think my therapist will be pleased, well I hope so💜😊
