My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

I’m glad you got a bit of sleep last night @Bow. I hope it helped a little. I also hope the community health visit goes well. You’re lucky that they come on weekends. My team are Monday to Friday only. I really need them this weekend. I work for the next 2 days so my only contact from Friday to Wednesday is email.

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @Captain24 the sleep last night has helped a little today. I’ve just got off the treadmill and am now laying on my shakti mat.
yes I’m very fortunate that my local community mh team are available of a weekend and public holidays. Just never know who will be on though and there’s not many that I know and feel comfortable to talk to.
what are you up to today?

I hope you get someone you are comfortable with @Bow

Whats a shakti mat?

Ive just cleaned the house which required a lot of focus. But at least I could do it. I’m going to my aunt and uncles for lunch. That is really playing havoc on my anxiety.

Have you got plans for this afternoon?

Re: My Mosaic

This is a shakti mat @Captain24

you lay on it with bare skin and there is a half circle piece for your neck. It’s good for all sorts of things, I’m actually finding it really helpful for grounding. It hurts a little bit at first, but then it’s really relaxing. Lay there and practice my breathing.

im sorry your anxiety is bad (maybe a shakti mat would be helpful!) but I know you will be able to manage lunch. You can do this.

We are just baking some cookies and not sure what else we will do for the afternoon.

Re: My Mosaic

Ouch @Bow That looks like it really hurts! If it helps you then that is fantastic. If I see one around I might get one. Where do you get them from?

I hope your cookies turned out well and that you had a pleasant afternoon.

Lunch went well except for a MH conversation that they had. It showed me I’m right in keeping my diagnosis to myself. Now I have dinner with the olds. I can’t wait until 7 when I’m free of everyone!

Re: My Mosaic

@Captain24 I got mine from eBay, but have heard that Kmart sell them. You can start with a shirt on and progress to bare skin. It’s a good pain though 🙂

The community mh team that visited was a really lovely lady. She’s done some home visits before but went on maternity leave. She’s back now! She actually sat down and chatted with me unlike others that just stand there, talk and then leave. She stayed for nearly 1/2hr. And she actually helped me put together some plans for evenings when things are at their worst and other things.

The cookies turned out good. I just use the premixed box. Just add butter and an egg. Quick and easy for my daughter and for lazy me! I had one. They taste pretty good too.

im glad that your lunch went ok. And hope that dinner does too. And yes… I can totally relate to the awkward conversation around mental health from those that really have no clue.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow, I’ve considered those Shakti mats to help with SH urges and just general pains. I’m glade it provides relief for you. It really does sounds like the lady has really helped you, it’s amazing when you come across mental health professionals you can really connect with. Cookies sound nice, what kind of cookies did you make?

Re: My Mosaic

@creative_writer You get headaches a lot yeah? I’ve used mine for headache relief in the past. Even migraines too. I think that may of actually been the original reason I got one.
Yes, the mh lady did help. She helped to remind me of the skills that I already do have and helped me put them into a plan. We even pulled out paper work from the sensory modulation course that I did last week and we went through that.
The cookies. Just Betty Crocker plain cookies with mini m&ms on top.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow, I am a chronic migraine sufferer, it’s frustrating. So maybe it’ll help with pain. At this point, I’m willing to try other things. My preventative meds (which are also my mood stabilisers) are not doing their job completely. Migraines and mood haven’t been that good.

It does help to have someone talk you through things, I have resources and all but sometimes I forget I have them.

Betty Crocker cookies sound nice, I hope you enjoy them.

Re: My Mosaic

I use to get horrible migraines @creative_writer nearly fortnightly on the dot and then I would have a migraine hangover for a week, so I had a week where I felt good and then the circle would start again. I actually got my daith piercing and they stopped. That was maybe 4 years ago. I’ve had a couple of migraines since.

Yep, sometimes we just need a reminder of what we need to do when things are bad. I have my safety plan written on paper cause often when things are really bad I just can’t think what I am suppose to do. I also have called up my psychologist or case manager and asked them to remind me what I need to do.
