Something’s not right

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Yes @Bow I'm around.

Wanted to commend you on how well you are doing. Its still such early days in the therapy process.

I recall when I did the PE (prolonged exposure) therapy, I was unable to verbalise what happened to me at all initially. I was eventually asked to write the whole thing down. That was hard enough, but manageable. Then my psych would read my story to me in-session the first couple of weeks.

Like you, I was having twice weekly sessions, and each session was 2-3 hours long. In time, I was able to verbalise the story myself. But gee, it was so damned hard! After a month or more of intense work, things became a bit easier though. My psych then asked me to record (read) what happened to me and to then keep playing it back to myself as homework in between sessions. Its all part of the desensitising process.

So, you asked if anyone was around. What do you need?

Re: My Mosaic

I really do appreciate you sharing your story with me @Emelia8 it gives me a little bit of hope, just a tiny bit. I really don’t have much tonight.

what do I need tonight? I need to feel safe within myself. I feel so overwhelmed. Scared. I feel terrible alone.

Re: My Mosaic

Just keep reassuring yourself @Bow that you are safe now.

The horrible things that happened to you are in the past. Not now.

Our mind is very powerful and plays tricks on us, and this can affect not just our minds but our bodies as well. Just be aware of this.

Keep yourself grounded. Have faith in your therapist. But just as importantly, have faith and confidence in yourself.

Have you reached out to a helpline at all @Bow ? I'm sorry things are so difficult tonight. It's a long road but it reminds me why we're all here when people like @Emelia8 share their story and provide hope 😊
