My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah maybe I could write stuff down @Snowie might be a bit easier.

oh that’s not good that you still have so much out of pocket costs for the dentist.

I can understand that being around your mum at the moment is a lot. Totally get it. Hopefully she is in a good mood tomorrow and your trip is in and out and back home.

I just sat and did my nails. I got a heap of cheap glue on nails from Temu. I just have to paint my thumb nails with a matching colour cause I have really wide thumb nails.

dinner is about ready. Mum got ham steaks today, haven’t had them in ages. Wonder if D will eat them

Re: My Mosaic

Sometimes I find it easier writing things down, well much easier @Bow

Face to face with someone I know is ok, but not really good over phone.

I'm hoping tomorrow morning is a quick one but doubt it. Will probably end up at a cafe somewhere having a coffee.

Oh I love temu!! You can find some really good deals on there.

Just fed all the family then. Used the slow cooker but it has a crack in the bowl. Might have to shop around for a new one.

What do you normally have with the ham steaks? Hopefully D eats them.

@Snowie

Glad it was just the one filling and that you were able to see the dentist you trust. Sorry it was so expensive though. I could swear dentistry and mental health are the two things that are the least well covered! And both are so necessary.

Sorry things are so tricky with your mum and that tomorrow is likely to involve extra time with her. Is there anything that you find helps after you’ve had to spend time with her?

@Bow

I can understand not being able to work out whether or not a call would help or not. I’m sorry it’s all so much at the moment. I’m really impressed that you were able to get the groceries and meds. It would be extra hard to have to do that with D not wanting to eat a bunch of stuff. I’d normally ask if you knew what was behind her fussiness but I know you probably don’t need to be asked additional questions right now! Did I remember correctly that you SW is visiting tomorrow? If so, I hope she’s able to support you in a way that works with where you’re at. 💛

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Wintersweet

Dentistry and mental health are expensive. I see why people just get all their teeth pulled and get false ones. Much cheaper in the long run.

My mum gets very emotional and upset and lashes out. Normally I'm the one in the firing line.

Always on edge when I pick her up wondering what sort of mood she'll be in. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. I normally just come home and veg out, try and relax.

Re: My Mosaic

@Snowie

It would be so painful to keep doing things for her and to have her continually lash out at you. The uncertainty of how it’s going to be would definitely add to the anxiety. I can see why you’d be so on edge about it.

Re: My Mosaic

@Wintersweet I don’t really know why my D has become such a fussy eater. As a baby she would eat anything. I think sometimes she just gets it in her head that she won’t like something and that’s it. Tonight we had ham steaks. She eats ham and she loves bacon. She had the tiniest of bites, literally the size of a grain of rice. Nope. Wouldn’t eat it. She can taste the difference between brands of food. She will like something and eat heaps of it and then suddenly won’t eat it anymore. I think she probably has some ARFID and autism traits. Meal times are frustrating cause we very often have to cook 2 different meals.

@Snowie @Wintersweet I just reached out to the butterfly foundation. Started telling the lady of my current struggles and then remembered that if you share of any physical symptoms they call emergency services on you. And while yes it would be wise to see my gp I don’t need any help tonight. I chatted with her and think I will maybe reach out to my old SW tomorrow and ask for her to maybe bring my new SW up to speed a bit more? I just don’t want my new SW to think I’ve gone behind her back or above her.

I am suppose to be having contact with my SW tomorrow. Either a home visit or out somewhere.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow

I’m grateful you were able to reach out to the Butterfly Foundation. I nearly asked about them earlier but didn’t know if it would be a helpful suggestion. I’m glad you were able to talk with them and get some encouragement while still getting to choose for yourself to talk to your GP.

That would be really hard with D. I’d ask if you’ve come across any helpful resources for parents but I also understand that surviving at the moment might look like focusing on making sure she’s given something she can/will eat, even though that comes with the frustration of more food prep.

Re: My Mosaic

My SW came this morning. Told her I was tired and she asked if anything had changed since yesterday and I said no. She was concerned and asked what needs to happen when I am like this, do I need to seek medical attention? I was brave and told her at a minimum I need to go get my bloods done. She was like ok, let’s go do that now.

So we did that. And as she dropped me off back at home I thanked her and told her I knew that I needed to go do that but sometimes it’s hard. And she said she was on a mission today and wasn’t going to leave until we had done something.

now to wait for the results and hope my gp doesn’t call me up

Re: My Mosaic

Hi dear @Bow

Firstly well done for reaching out to the Butterfly Foundation. Hoping that it helped, even a little.

Good job on getting your bloods done today. I know you had your SW there for encouragement but mentioning it to her in the first place was brave.

I hope the rest of your day goes ok.

Morning too @Wintersweet

Wishing you a good day today too

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow

I’m so proud of you for mentioning that to your SW and for going with her to get the bloods done.

Do you have any craft/lego that you’re doing today?

@Snowie

Thank you ☺️

I hope that today goes ok for you, that you don’t have to spend too much time with your mum and that you’re able to relax after.
