My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

I think if I remember correctly @Snowie it’s cause we’re like a ‘customer’ of the service, not an individual worker, and they like customers to be known and to know all workers so that when people are on leave or away, we can still be supported by other workers. I think they were some of the reasons they gave me last time. And I get that people move on and leave, but that’s different. If workers are on holiday, or sick or whatever, you still know they are coming back. You still know you’ll have that support. And I said that to my SW today. This is like one of my supports that could be stable and consistent. My other supports at community mh, they change all the time and they don’t really give a crap. It’s like I have zero control over any of that…. But this place… this could be a consistent. If they cared.

I got an email back from the boss- my old SW. she thanked me for sending it through and she would get back to me once she’s had a meeting with her manager later this week. so at least she is hearing me and considering what I have said maybe?

yeah maybe I should email them and just follow up about it.

Hope the rest of your day has been ok. Some peace and quiet from your mum?
that sounds like a lot coming up.

I have a gp appointment tomorrow. Didn’t tell my SW wall up and not really wanting to let people in. But she was gonna come do another home visit tomorrow afternoon to check in with me and provide any feedback from today.
I think mums a bit on edge now too. Cause my SW turned up and mum answered the door and I’m guessing was a bit surprised by her visit cause I didn’t say anything. My SW then told my mum that I was probably a bit sad by such and such news and told mum what was going on.

Re: My Mosaic

I can understand them wanting you to know different workers @Bow but I do think some consistency is needed too. It is good to know another SW when yours goes on holidays but it's not as if they take leave every month!

I'm glad your old SW read your email and acknowledged that she received it. Hopefully it does make a difference.

Yes some peace from mum. Well sort of, she called me 3 times today 🤦‍♀️
A few things coming up. I've tried to space it out so there isn't too much on the same day.

I guess it's not a bad thing that your mum knows what is going on. I guess better than you having to tell her.

I hope your gp appt. goes ok tomorrow

Re: My Mosaic

Hey @Bow sounds like you are going through a tough time right now. Staying connected with the community is amazing and sharing your experiences. What supports do you have around you at home at the moment or would this be a good time to reach out to Lifeline for a little extra support?

Do you have a support worker catching up with you soon?

@Jynx ? If you got time? You read what’s going on now?

like what else can happen? Why’s it all so hard???

Re: My Mosaic

Hey @Bow - I have just been reading back and oh my stars what a rough turn of events after... well, a rough turn of events! I'm sorry to hear it hun, sounds very overwhelming to have so much up in the air right now, and have your complaints go unacknowledged to boot. I am very glad that your SW has advocated for a slow transition. Does this mean a whole new team around you? When is your SW bringing the newbie around?

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks for reading back @Jynx

No just a different support worker. A really young psw actually. I’ve met her a few times, she’s done a couple of home visits and stuff and I’m not keen.

That long letter that I wrote last time, I mentioned it to my SW today and have sent it to her cause she would not of seen it before and I resent it to my old SW who is now the team leader. Told them all they could send it on up to the powers that be. So my old SW- team leader is going to met with her manager some time this week…. And I guess see what happens from there. Whether I’m going to be forced to change SW or keep my current one.

My SW is coming to see me tomorrow, check in with me and I guess tell me anything else that happened when she went back to the office this afternoon. I have supports booked Thursday and Friday too. My SW said how long is a slow transition? A year?

already putting my walls up though. Lost trust. Hurt. Shutting down.

like genuinely why? Why? Nothing is ever bl00dy easy for me. I just have to keep being punished. Maybe I’m not punishing myself enough so other people have to do it. [Removed by moderator]

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow oh you've met her before? Not your vibe?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your letter and those advocating for you are able to get the message across as needed.

I imagine it's easy to see this as a punishment. It might be easier than to see it as something that is actually not even a little bit personal. I know that right now, you may not be able to hear this really - but it's not meant to hurt you. Maybe asking for a bit more information about what organisational reasons are behind this change (because it sounds kinda... routine?) will help you make more sense of what is going on?

It's okay to be angry, feel let down, and want to resist this kind of change. It's hard to cope when everything is so unstable around you, but try to remember that you have always gotten through big changes in the past, and they have, in time, become your 'new normal'.

Look after yourself tonight okay hun? The community is here behind you every step 💜

They say they care. But they bl00dy. They are still moving me. I’m so done. I’m so fuc¥ing done. I’m sick of being thrown around like a bag of garbage to whoever will work with me. I’m not doing it anymore.
