My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @Jynx

yeah… had my sleep study follow up today. Got mild sleep apnea, but Dr wants me to do an overnight sleep study at a private clinic to test for narcolepsy.
then tomorrow I’ve got my surgery follow up appointment. That’s after I’ve been to comm mh to see someone from the team. They called yesterday to check in and I guess cause of somethings I said, they wanna see me face to face.
and then admission next week. Getting more and more anxious about it yeah.

it’s just all a bit much at the moment

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow oh wow narcolepsy eh? How are you feeling about that? And did they give you any sort of treatment for the apnea? Or is it too mild for a funky spaceman breathing mask?

Sounds like everything is busy busy, and looming too. It's no wonder you're feeling overwhelmed!! I know the admission is bound to be pretty nerve-wracking... but it's still a positive step in my books. Plus it means for the duration of your admission, all you gotta worry about is which hospital food to pick for lunch, right?

Re: My Mosaic

Was not at all on the radar to be honest @Jynx and I certainly don’t have episodes during the day where I suddenly fall asleep. It was a bit of information overload today, but I think I recall him talking something about my sleep stages that showed up on my sleep study. That was the sleep dr. The registrar that I seen first talked about the sleep apnea and the use of a sleep apnea machine, I had 7 sleep episodes per hour where I stopped breathing or whatever. Which is pretty mild. Think the plan is to do this other test first, see what that shows. We have a sleep apnea machine at home already so it will be easy to test to see if it makes any difference later.
But the word… narcolepsy… don’t even know the origin or meanings…. But just narco…. It don’t sound nice to me.
it’s like far out something else! Another diagnosis. Urgh fml

so many nerves about hospital. So many unknowns. Will mum be ok? Will E be ok? How long? Urgh. Food… yuck. A lot of anxiety around the food and my ED. Mental health admissions always end up as medical admissions cause I don’t eat. I need support straight up but that’s just never happens cause they are useless. All my well thought out plans are nothing in the end cause they just don’t understand.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow I don't know much about it but one of my fav Drag Race contestants has it, and she would basically get sleepy when super stressed. She'd be like nodding off in the middle of a challenge, not like full sleep but like zonking out a bit. Definitely curious to find out what your doc says about it!

The word nerd in me decided to scope it out on etymonline, my fav etymology resource:

Just kinda means 'attack of the sudden stupor'

Narco being associated with 'narcotics' because they're substances that can cause stupor, I guess!

But it's totally okay to be frustrated with having more things, more diagnoses on your plate. Hopefully in time it may mean better understanding/treatment/sleep quality!

Have you flagged the ED concerns with your supports? Definitely could be worth checking in, like with your dietician for example, to see if you can come up with a plan or something.

Thanks @Jynx @Shaz51

mum cooked pancakes for breakfast… I had Nutella strawberries and banana with mine. After my 2 appointments (heavy and not so good news) I went and got my free boost juice drink.
