My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Bow

I think you are allowed to feel this way hon. I probably would too.

I'm sorry this happened to you, it really isn't fair. At the end of the day you should be allowed to know what is happening with your supports and not sprung on you at the very last minute.

It wouldn't have taken much just to let you know beforehand.

I don't blame you for walking out.

Has you SW been in contact with you this afternoon?

Re: My Mosaic

They could have made a quick call when they booked the appointment in to let me @Snowie it shouldn’t have been too much to ask.

they actually tried calling me not long after I posted that but I didn’t take it. So they of course called my mum. I had already let mum know about what happened cause she commented on me not being gone very long. Told her about the new pdoc and my mediation so when they called her she let them know how she felt about it too. They were on the phone for a bit and then they wanted to talk to me. I didn’t want to, but I took it. Ended up being stuck on the phone for 1/2hr. My SW was still there and she had told them how unwell I had been.

the pdoc asked so many questions, mostly I just said yes or no. She really really pushed for an admission. Pushed for ECT. Asked me heaps of questions to try and determine if I was safe and I think try and do an involuntary admission but I knew what she was doing. She was like if you won’t agree to an admission and ECT then what can she do to help me. I just said well maybe no one can help me.

anyways she made sure I had all the numbers, she’ll talk to the team, they’ll be in contact oh and then she pushed for a short admission again, even just a couple of days.

havent heard from my SW. thought she might of called around. Oh well.

mum is now obviously worried. Maybe one good thing?…. I told mum how bad last week was. I listed off all the things I wrote down. Told them they have been wanting me to have an admission. Wanting me to do ECT: mum said it’s ok if I need to. We talked briefly. She’s goes to tassie early March, so maybe we will look at it after that

Re: My Mosaic

I agree @Bow Even a 2 min phone call just letting you know about the new pdoc.

Maybe it's a good thing that your mum knows what is happening now and what the last few weeks have been like for you. I'm sure all she wants is for you to be safe and happy.
Well done for at least talking to the pdoc. That must have been hard.

Perhaps it is something that you can do when your mum returns from Tassie. At least if you do, it won't be a surprise for your mum. She would have had the time to come to terms with it.

Been quite a busy and stressful day for you.

Re: My Mosaic

You know what really upset me today as well….. this pdoc automatically assumed that my mum was MY daughter’s full time caregiver. WTF

Still here @Bow

I'm sorry that happened too

Re: My Mosaic

It often feels like mental health workers think we…. Or at least I, are second class citizens. Like I’m not worth the decency or respect other people are given. It’s like they are doing me a favor so they can treat me however they like.

Re: My Mosaic

I’ve had a really bad day @AuntGlow

i had a pdoc appointment which ended badly- I posted about it back a bit if you wanted to read.

after last week and how unwell I realised I am today’s appointment was not what I needed.

Re: My Mosaic

I just read over your last messages, gosh - it sounds like it was a really overwhelming appointment. I can absolutely hear how clear, empathetic communication and a desire to understand your experience without making assumptions is so conducive to feeling safe and respected within your support team (which is completely understandable).

I know you mentioned that this appointment wasn't what you needed... what do you think you really need most right now? @Bow
