Something’s not right

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Hey @Snowie

wasn’t up too early thankfully, but I did have to wake daughter up though, which I was surprised she wasn’t already up. I walked in her room this morning and I could tell that she wasn’t up in the middle of the night cause there was stuff on the floor… like random stuff…. Her green dragon tail. Her white cat paws. 😂 like what on earth were you doing?

she couldn’t find her school hat this morning. Was searching through stuff in her room and I actually don’t recall seeing it when I gave her room a good clean, so goodness knows where it is. She ended up taking a cap of mine, but probably need to go guy her a new one.

how are you?

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Bow

Does D do that often hon, get up during the night?

Ohh the dreaded uniform. Mine lost a few things when they were young too.

Do they have a second hand shop/facebook page?

The school the kids went to had a second hand facebook page where you could buy/sell uniforms and books. Especially when they were older and had to have specific texts for Eng/Maths, etc. Was really good, you could pick up some bargains and the uniform was in great condition.

Got up early and took mum up the supermarket. She was in a foul mood. Very snappy. I just ignored it.

Have you got much on today? Back to the school run!

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah sometimes @Snowie shes never been a good sleeper. Took me years together to go to sleep in her own bed. Shes got to have a particular podcast playing, has done since she was little. She also takes melatonin gummies, I use to get them from iherb, but when they suddenly stopped shipping them to Australia last year I bought like 6 bottles elsewhere before they stopped there too. I’ve got enough to do use a few years! She can’t fall asleep without them, but now I wonder if that contributes to her waking in the middle of the night. It’s only a new thing though. Maybe being back at school, she will sleep better.

its frustrating yeah…. Uniforms and them getting lost. They are never cheap. If she has lost her hat I’ll just go to Kmart and grab one. Doesn’t have to be a school hat thankfully.

the school has a Facebook page, but they don’t seem to post much. Her old school was really good with social media, there was even a parent page, which was great. Doesn’t seem to be one for her current school.

im glad you were able to ignore your mums snappyness… its not easy.
I did groceries this morning, picked up my meds, popped into an op shop that was right where I parked my car, found an Alice book. Not sure if my SW is visiting today or not. Hoping D will walk home from school today.

you doing anything?

Re: My Mosaic

Well hopefully with school back she'll be more tired at night and sleep through @Bow A routine can help so sounds like you have that in place.

Never heard of those gummies. If they help then I'd use them too.

Wait until she is a teenager. Can't get them out of bed!!

Thats good about the hat, it doesn't have to be a specific one with the school logo. Does make it cheaper.

The facebook page is more of a parents page. It was started by some parents, not by the school.

The school is really strict about the uniform so to pick it up cheaper does help.

Uniform is so expensive too. It's like they know the parents have to buy it, so put the price up.

Ohhh another Alice book!
I hope your SW does visit hon or at least rings you.

Is that a new thing for D, walking home by herself?

Mum didn't have a go at me, so I can deal with her being snappy.

Not much else on today, just some washing.

Re: My Mosaic

Well D had a good day at school @Snowie she came home happy, she has some friends in her class but we wasn’t allowed outside to play cause she didn’t have the right hat 😩 she had a grey cap of mine and apparently she needs a school hat. Gosh. So guess I’ll have to buy a new school hat. I was told when we started that the school is very uniform proud.

during the school holidays she was sleeping until 10:30-11am, and was grumpy when I got her up earlier. I’m sure it will be like that when she’s a teen.

No call or visit from my SWtoday. Short text to say hi this morning, she always does a visit mondays at 1:30pm. 🤷🏼‍♀️

yeah walking is a new thing. School is really not that far, it’s less than 10mins down there, it’s just got a hill to walk back up to come home. And she is really overly cautious and a bit scared of crossing roads by herself. She knows what to do, just doesn’t like doing it. I’m not sure if that’s one of them, but I think she has a lot of autistic traits.

im glad your mum didn’t have a go at you. That’s good.

I just spent the last couple of hours stripping back the doors for this cupboard I’m doing. Decided to strip back all the work I’d already done and start again on the doors. The rest will be fine, cause you won’t really see it and it’s not that bad, but the doors looked bad. I’ll start a fresh with painting them tomorrow. I also have my first consultation with the sleep clinic tomorrow too. And I’m on a liquid diet in preparation for my surgery on Wednesday.

do you have a busy rest of the week?

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @Bow

That sounds like the school my kids went too. Everything had to have the school logo, even the socks!!

Hopefully you can get one soon so she can go outside. Thats good that she has some friends in her class and came home happy. I guess thats all you can ask for.

Hoping too that D gets comfortable walking home. Better than you trying to do school pickup. Traffic can be very bad.

Saying you think she has autistic traits. Has D ever been tested?

D got tested awhile ago and she had some.

S starts an apprenticeship soon so will have very early mornings!

I'm sorry about your SW hon. Thats not right. She could have least called you if she couldn't do a home visit.

I hope the sleep consultation goes ok and so does the liquid diet.

I hope your cupboard ends up being something you are happy with. Knowing you, it will turn out looking amazing.

My week is looking ok. Have the gp tomorrow but that's about it for the week.

Re: My Mosaic

No D has never been tested @Snowie guess I just know a lot of the traits and D has some of them.

that’s exciting about your S apprenticeship, what’s it in? Not so exciting about early mornings though!

think I just hit the tired wall. And sunk a bit

Re: My Mosaic

Sorry hon, just had to feed everyone.

S is starting an Electrician apprentice @Bow I told him to give it at least 6 months to see if he likes it or not. Then he can decide if he wants to keep going or try something else.

Anything I can do to help hon? What time does D normally go to sleep on a school night?

Re: My Mosaic

What did you all have for dinner @Snowie ?

that’s a good way to do it with your son.

trying to get D into bed by 8:30, that way I can go not long after that.

we just watched a live stream of the Disney wonder sail out of Sydney harbor for the last time. It’s not coming back. D went off to her room to finish cleaning and I called her out a bit later and she’s all in tears and sobbing cause it left!! Oh goodness me.

In response to: Re: My Mosaic

Re: My Mosaic

We had something called porkipines, mashed potato and veggies @Bow

One of their favourites.

I just told S he needs to give it time. He's not sitting on his butt at home not doing anything. Get out and try something.

Oh sorry to hear about D. Must mean she loved the trip!!

I think thats a good time to go to bed. Don't think I'll be staying up either.
