My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

All good. @Bow

Sorry to hear about this trauma anniversary. I hope you find a way to work through it. It sounds incredibly hard to have to manage it year in, year out. Please be kind to yourself.

What was the best about your trip?

I only arrived a few days ago so I'm still lost. lol. Don't know what day or time it is. So hopefully being on SANE will give me some routine and structure.

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah I go into this time of the year and hope that it will be a little bit easier than last year…. But it never is. It’s exhausting. And I don’t have a psychologist this year… and I’m really feeling it @tyme

Oh it’s hard to pick just one best thing. I loved the parties up on the top deck. It was pretty surreal to be on a big ship out in the middle of the ocean, having a party, the music, the dancing and entertainment, the fireworks…. And absolutely no one else would hear it or see it.

it takes days to get back into knowing what day and time it is. I think this week is the first week I’ve felt a bit more normal. I was exhausted when we got back. Really late night, long full days.

was your trip good?

Re: My Mosaic

Super frustrating re emails @Bow but thank you for reporting! It helps to know when issues are persisting 😉

Sounds super intense, like yay you got a date for this procedure but then comes the dread for what it will entail. Is it something you'd feel open to flagging with the treating team? I think for me, the more info I have the more at ease I can feel when it comes to things like this, so maybe asking for that little bit of extra care can help you feel less like you're not in control...

Also yikes - I wonder if you ought to reschedule the sleep study? Just in terms of the fact that I know my sleep would be super interrupted if I was about to go under anaesthesia the next day. Wouldn't want skewed results!!

Also the TV stand looks great!! I LOVE that colour!! What's it called? It reminds me of phthalo green from the photo -

Re: My Mosaic

Sounds like an awesome trip! When you go to those parties, does D go with you? I'm not sure how cruises work. I really want to go on one, but my sister doesn't and I don't know who else would. So I'm looking at other destinations instead @Bow

My trip was fantastic. It was such a culturally enriching experiencing. It was a really busy 5 weeks and constantly on the go. We took about 7 different planes to get to all the places we had to go to. We also went houseboating, hiking, went to the tea plantations, museums, farms, zoos... the whole bang lot. The kids were really well behaved, considering how 'different' it was in india.

Re: My Mosaic

At least the support button just worked eh @Jynx 😂

yeah I think I will need to let them know about my history when I go to the pre-op appointment maybe? Just not sure how I will go about doing that… as in will I have the courage. And will they understand???

the sleep study appointment the day before is just the initial appointment with the clinic. For them to determine if they think doing a sleep study is worth while.

the green colour is called …. ‘Bows mixture of a whole heap of different paint until she gets a colour she likes’ 😂 I used 6 different colours I think.

Re: My Mosaic

@tyme Yes D came with me, all the parties up top they started rather late for kids… like 10:30, but they did have some earlier ones but they were nowhere near as goods. Families and kids were all at the late parties. D made friends so would hang out with them too. She really loved it. She had more energy than we did. I left dinner early one night cause I was so exhausted I was feeling unwell. We had thought that we would put D into kids club some of the time but we never did. She was happy with us. She’s 10 and it felt really safe. If we were in our cabin and she wanted a drink or food, she was allowed to go up and get something by herself. Or if she wanted to go get in line to meet a character she would go down and join the line. Some rules just went out the window…. Like soft serve was on tap and some days she would have 5 or 6. Pizza for afternoon tea! Room service at 4pm… it’s all included so why not!
id most definitely encourage everyone to go on at least one cruise.

your trip sounds great. There is so much to see in India, it’s so different. We went to a tea plantation when we went to India and bought a heap of tea back for everyone in our church. It’s amazing how well kids adapt to travel and new environments. I’ve never had an issue with D when traveling. Shes a good travel buddy.

Yeah I always miss the support button when it goes on the fritz hey @Bow!!

Could you write them an email? Get your SW to help with wording maybe? You don't need to disclose any details, I think if you focus more on what you need it might help. Whether that's about having extra details or being able to touch base with the anaesthetist, or even about having someone really gentle who you can chat/connect to beforehand who will be the one waiting there next to you when you wake up. Maybe you can write yourself a little note reminding yourself you will be ok, keep it in your pocket 😉

I think they should be very understanding, cos you certainly wouldn't be the first person to come through who has a trauma history.

Oh phew!! Well I hope it all goes well 🤞

Oh my stars that's so cool! Except I guess if you end up needing to do another coat 😅 I think you've managed to create the same colour my car is... it's one of my favs! 😋
