Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

I'm guessing she's hoping for me to be admitted soon but it could take a few days to a few weeks. I could email her but not sure what to ask. ???

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay ,

I can see the dilemma. It's a challenging one. You know yourself best.

From my experience, inpatient units didn't do me any good (they were detrimental in fact), but PARCs helped a lot.

Inpatient units can give a bit of respite, but as you said, you can then become reliant on these restrictive measures and feel you 'need' to be looked after. I'm not sure if that rings true?

Whatever it is, we're here 🙂

It can be challenging to manage the urge to SH and just letting you know if you're still experiencing this feelings tonight or just need a chat you can always get in touch with SCBS or Lifeline. It’s important you are able to stay safe, if you require urgent assistance you can also dial 000.

Thanks @Otter
I struggle so much with making decisions. I'm not strong enough to decide for myself. I'm not able to see what I need in my life

my life is so scattered with negative thoughts and visions at the moment

I dread days like this

waking up with the thoughts they are so negative

I don't know anymore

I'm not strong like others

I feel like I'm a child still a victim

I can't fight this anymore

these thoughts these things in my head

I wish I was different I wish I had more courage and strength

I'm tired I'm struggling

I don't have answers anymore

I don't have anything to give to anyone anymore

im just a stupid dumb person who has nothing to give

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay

I have mentioned before that you need to start making decisions for yourself - this is the only way to learn how and gain the strength with experience. It's not easy but the only way.

It's true that you are overwhelmed with negative thoughts - and self-harm - please don't do that - it only distracts you for a short while and reinforces your negative beliefs in yourself and you don't need to do this

Forget about other people's opinions and trust your own. Consider the pros and cons about going to hospital - I know it's a hard choice - if you truly need to be cared for - maybe that will help in the short term - however

In the past you have gone there and then thought it was not the place for you and agonised about leaving and when you get home you wish you were back there - so - does this really help? I am asking you what you think - not what your doctor or your psych thinks -

Four weeks is a long time between visits with your psych when you are so fragile. I agree you are fragile - life has thrown several curved-balls at all of us during the last 16 months and you have been affected by all of this a little more than most I think

True - life isn't easy but time away from work or even thinking about it could help. You never like your job and what happens there - this was how it was at your previous pharmacy and then at the supermarket and now at the current pharmacy. I understand your health issues and this is what needs to be dealt with first - stress makes health issues worse - I know this from my own adventures through loss and divorce.

There are many things in your life that need sorting out. I can see this clearly - if you can change things then change them - if you can't - then learn to accept them

You can do this - it's just easier to concentrate on the negatives because this is what you do - I believe you can learn different ways and it isn't easy - it is better in the long run

So - my conclusion is that if you take a short break in hospital and concentrate on accepting your life as it is and taking the time out from working to recoup your health then do this - and do it quickly and once your decision is make then stick to it without over-thinking.

Take some steps without bothering about other people's opinions - you know what you need yourself - I really believe that you can change your circumstances for the better
