Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Re: Need to vent

I am sorry and I totally understand that @BlueBay

Maybe it's for the best - you do need to take your psyche's advice about not working or looking for work for a while and get your health under control - it's a case of dealing with the most important issue first and what is life without your healtih?

But I am surprised that you could be sacked because you are sick. If you feel up to it you could challenge that - maybe Centrelink could help with that. I know your husband earns to much for you to have disability.

And of course it is easy to see the way out when we are not in the middle of it - I know this is hard but the bottom line is that your health is your priorty

Re: Need to vent

hi @Owlunar @Shaz51 i emailed my psychologist who is going to call me this afternoon for a phone consult

i also emailed my new psychiatrist and the receptionist just called me - she is calling the hospital to ask for an urgent bed for me to go in and an appt to see my psych next thursday. i do have a good support team now and very grateful for it.

work - yes it was a shock; i have never ever been sacked, made redundant yes, but never sacked because i had too many days off. i looked back at my diary and i had 4 days off in 3 months. all those times i had medical certificates and one of those i was in hospital with diverticulitis and of course the last one being covid tested and had to stay isolated. i don't understand what they wanted me to do - go to work sick. i didn't have time off just for the fun of it; i still went to work even though some days i did dread going in. but i still worked hard and did my job.

i think things happen for a reason. this was an outlet for me to go to hosptial. it's giving me more time now to get better physically and mentally and look for work. But in saying that i am even thinking sewing baby blankets and selling them on line.

but for today and the next few weeks - i am not going to think of anything except me getting better.

thank you @Owlunar @Shaz51 for your replies, i do take on board what you've said. I think now it is clear that my mind has been made and i will def go into hospital. i need a break and to just put things into perspective of what i want. it's time i start doing more for me. and i will talk to the boys and they will have to help us out and pay weekly to help out. right now i can't even think about selling or looking. maybe in a few months i can, but right now i need to slow my mind down and do one simple thing at a time.

so for now, i am going to go to bed and rest my mind for a little. hubby called earlier as he was worried but i am okay now.

Hi again @BlueBay

Yes @BlueBay - I think you do need to have time to yourself to put things into perspective. I would like you to do one small thing for me

Write this on a piece of paper and keep it handy - refer to it from time to time when you are uncertain

Write: the main thing I need to do right now is to find a way to keep things in perspective - nothing else matters

And keep this first and foremost in your mind - having one main thing is important and will help you not to become confused

I'm sorry you lost your job - but maybe it's for the best so you need time to get many things sorted out - having things in perspective is number one - things will get better if you don't get distracted about this

I was really glad to read your post - I was concerned

Re: Need to vent

Hi @BlueBay

I'm really glad you are going into hospital today - I hope you really get the break you need and give yourself time to sort out your priorities

Try and remember your health and that is your most important issue. I think you realise that but you are already distracted with the thought of getting another job and this is already causing you to short-circuit - not good and fear is going to make it worse

How can you deal with the future before it gets here? Actually we all have to plan but there is nothing you can do about a job right now. I remember before you got this job you were going to take the time to sort your health out first but you didn't give yourself time to do this. What a pity - how much stress you have had since then - this is really sad

I know it is devastating to be made redundant and get sacked - how rotten. We can't change the past though - only learn though it's circumstances

Try and live in the moment for the time being. Your fear is making everything worse. I know it is really hard for you to control your emotions but to get better you need to at least ease some of them. I hope you can do this

I wish the best for you. Try and be kind to yourself. Would you be so hard on anyone else - I don't think so - you are a kind and supportive person.

Go easy on yourself and get the most out of this break you know you need so much

Re: Need to vent

Hi my friends

@Owlunar @Emelia8 @Anastasia @Shaz51 @MDT @saltandpepper abd others

day one wasn't a great day.

1. I arrived at reception to be admitted. Receptionist just pointed to where I had to go instead of walking me to the ward. I got lost along the way and was getting overwhelmed. Even though I know the hospital the mental health ward is a completely new building so I didn't know how to get there.
2. The nurse who admitted me didn't show me around the new ward.
3. Urine sample she left on table all afternoon until night nurse saw it and I had to do another one.
4. I had to ask another nurse where do I make coffee. She then showed me around the whole ward.
5 today my lunch dessert was frozen!! So I told the kitchen lady who collected my tray. She said that wasn't good enough.

the nurse unit manager snd program co-ordinator who both know me for years came to say hi. I told them my issues and said it's ok for me because I know the staff and familiar with hodpital but it's not good for a new patient who's never been here before. They would feel totally lost snd overwhelmed. The nurse manager thanked me for my feedback on issues and she will sort it out.

I've been in my room a lot sleeping and knitting.

hubby just arrived so I'm going now for a coffee.
