Need to vent

Need to vent

Hi everyone

I need to vent!!

I'm not coping

I'm not enjoying my new job. It's mundane, boring and triggering. For those who don't know, I was made redundant in my pharmacy job 4 days before Christmas. I then found a casual job at a supermarket. The job I do is very boring. I have far too much 'alone' time at work so my mind wanders to a lot of stuff. I asked my supervisor if i could learn the registers as thats what i would love to do. she replied that she couldn't until next year, don't know why as we are so short staffed and they need extras.

They advertise extra shifts or replacing a shift on facebook, which i really hate. but that's how they do it. i asked my supervisor if i could pick up extra shifts even though i don't know the registers. she replied yes thats fine that i would still do cleaning.

The other day a staff member posted she needed someone to do a shift. i was the first one tyo reply and accept the shift. another girl replied after me. the staff member replied back to me saying she would give that shift to the second girl as i don't know tyhe registers. I was so annoyed, angry and then upset. I feel used, and discriminated.

The problem is I am 'too scared' to confront my supervisor and ask again as i don't want the other member to get into gtrouble. so this means that i can't get any extra shifts until i learn the registers.

it is so wrong

the other issue i am having is seeing the old pharmacy customers. it's not an issue in that i see them, they love to talk. some still didn't know i had gone!!! but each time i see them and they say 'oh i am sorry to what happened to you' i get upset, hurt angry at the new owners. i miss the girls i used to work with and the job.

working for a much much bigger organisation is hard. there is so much clicks, so much politics and crap. i try to go in and do my job and go home.

but with so much time on my hands at work i start to think negatively.

i have recentyly had terrible vertigo, a 5 day migraine and today again another headache. i decided to call in sick and was spoken to so rude and short by the supervisor. it's like she doesn't believe me when i call in sick. and my anxiety is extremely high in having to ring her.

i don't have the confidence to leave and get another job. i feel i am not good enough

i am sorry to vent, i know a lot of you are struggling with your own issues. and that i should be thankful that i do have a job, as a lot of people have lost theirs.

Hey @BlueBay ,

Just take everything as it comes. If you get work, take it. If you don't get work, take it.

I used to fret over things. Now, if I don't get something, I just see it as "not for me". If I do get something, I see it as "I need to learn from this". I've really come to a "meh?" stage. I don't care if I do, I don't care if I don't. I've found im much happier that way.

Anyway, like you, it's freeeeeezing here. As soon as I went for a walk to drop off some books to a neighbour, it started pouring, hailing and with lightning and thunder. I had to bolt home - that was definitely my run for the day!!!

Also, I was just complaining that I was stuck at home all morning and hadn't done any physical activity....then I looked out the window and saw all my rabbits had escaped from their cage!!! That was another run!

So that's my lockdown adventures for the day.

Please note: no animals were harmed in this adventure!

Re: Need to vent

I can understand why you would be upset about taking time off work but if you need it then take it. I feel the same about taking sick days. At the moment I can work from home but now I find I don't take sick days. I just take a short break if feeling sick and try to soldier on. If I was at work I would have taken a sick day. Work is work... Hope I can one day afford retirement... Don't know anyone who is retired... Just pour pensioner... Not sure what I would do if I retired...

oh no @BPDSurvivor !!!!

Yes, i did go to work. I would have much rather stayed in bed while it was raining. I got to work and not one person asked how i was. It would have been nice if they asked, but anyway. I said hello to all of them and got to work. Did what i had to do for the day/night and left at 7pm. it was a long day, i was tired and my back was achey. But got home and my younger son made home made spaghetti, gee i have a really good boy. he made sauce too. it was really nice.

now for a rant - 😞

hubby has a tickly throat, probably caught something from me. But he is so selfish and stubborn that it really annoys me so much. i get so angry at his reasoning and behaviour. never has the flu shot and he works in a hospital kitchen .

he has taken two days off because we are doing our tax (via phone consult) and he decided to take 2 days off. so this morning i said to him that he needs to get covid tested. Well it was like i was asking him to get his teeth out!!!! No why do i, i only have a tickly throat, i prob got it from you". i said no you work in hospital setting, you could have picked something else up. just go and get tested. after so much huffing and puffing he went.

Grrr it makes me so made at his attitude. so now i have two days home with him. i will have to keep myself busy.

Hi @BlueBay

That is really good - your getting Huffnpuff to take a COVID test. That is calling him out to do the right thing - it is selfish to continue when a person feels unwell - it is such a small thing to have a test and therefore make it safe for other people - knowledge is power and the state and the country needs to know where all the coronavirus is. Well done for calling it out at home where it is probably be the hardest

I hear what you are saying about your work being - well - menial - I guess. True - it seems boring.

When I go into shops and look through the stock I really appreciate the dust-free shelves and products - I am actually glad to hear someone actually attends to this. Yes - you are lucky to have a job and you felt unwanted and useless before you got this job. I am so glad you did seek re-employment and have work now.

Of course you are taking time of work often - because of health problems. I don't believe in the "soldier-on" culture - I really hated it when I worked and people came to work with bugs - sneezing and coughing and spreading colds everywhere. I am sure many other people feel the same way

So - for now - during this tough winter and the COVID stuff around making it harder you are working when you can so if it's so ordinary - dusting - etc - be the best and most cheerful dusting person on the planet - after all - work is work whatever you are doing - and think the best thoughts you can. If your thoughts bother you remind yourself you are being paid while you think tough thoughts. It's an idea

I am sure you will feel better in the spring - take one day at a time - as your health improves the pharmacy will probably give you more interesting responsibilites - so dust away - someone has to do the menial tasks

All the best

Dec

Hahaha @BlueBay ,

What a typical response! Did you actually expect anything different? LOL.

Im glad you went to work. And even glader that your yummy dinner was cooked for you! Sounds delish!

Ive always told myself, friends are nice, but I don't go to work to make friends. I do my job, and walk away so that if anything happens at work, it can stay at work! If I don't have the expectation that I am to be "liked", it actually doesn't bother me when things go a bit haywire. Of course I don't intentionally go out to make enemies, though!

Im just having a bit of a laugh. After reading your post, i totally stepped into your shoes, and imagined what your day was like - love it!
