Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

@Emelia8 my doctor said the same thing, was anxiety I could sometimes feel like it was beating out of my chest or beating weird. Hard to describe but I'm sure you know what I mean, and my sleeping heart rate is in the 70's and I am too also for the most part physically fit.

My doctor even had me wear one of those heart monitors for 24 hours to rule out anything major. And it's anxiety. Lucky me.

@Emelia8 usually I can just ignore it or try and distract myself and or my thoughts, coukdnt t tonight again I apologise to you and @Shaz51 and @NatureLover for how quickly I had to leave .

Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

Not a problem at all needing to go off line @Lee71 . You did the right thing.

I had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours too, a few years ago. Same result as you. Anxiety.

My normal blood pressure is on the low side, typically 100/60 and heart rate around 70 bpm. But all that changes very rapidly, once anxiety is added to the mix.

Anyway ... it sounds like you're okay now, which is great.

Are you feeling mentally and physically exhausted after your long therapy session today?

Can I ask if you are doing any particular type of therapy?

Em

@NatureLover @Emelia8

At the moment my therapy is about keeping me, safe and stable and getting some supports in place, also working on changing my living arrangements as well, I'm in a boarding house right now. Sox iits difficult to deal with all the other stuff yet .

Having some med adjustments too, that's just started again, tried to reduce this one once didn't go well

Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

Sounds like the basic, essential stuff then @Lee71 . And your current living arrangements do not sound ideal either. Hopefully something can be done to improve that situation

I've had a number of different trauma therapies, with mixed results.

I have to apologise @Lee71 for my ignorance but, being a bit of a latecomer here, I do not know what your MH condition or diagnosis is. If you think it may be helpful for me, or other readers, to know then please share.

@Emelia8 I've been here for some time but haven't really shared too much as of yet . Anxiety,, ocd. Havent said too much else

Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

Thats okay, you dont have to share anything you are not comfortable in sharing @Lee71. I'm sorry for asking ... I shouldn't have.

But from what you have said, it looks like we share some things.

I too am diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Or to be more specific ... OCD and PTSD.

Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

@Emelia8 don't be sorry for asking it's ok. Just takes me time to get comfortable . I have OCD, also complex ptsd think that's what they call it and lots of other stuff.

@NatureLover @Emelia8 one of the things that is really hard for me is change, even the slightest routine is incredibly important. Even when I take my meds in the morning has to be in a certain order, and I'm sensitive to noise as well

Re: My only safe place aka my fortress

Sounds pretty similar to me then @Lee71 .... I'm really sorry.

I too find change difficult to deal with and manage. Its hard isnt it when you feel that your life is dictated by a need for routine and order.

Both @NatureLover and I are whats called Highly Sensitive Personalities, and its likely you are too. You should check out her thread. I suspect a lot of it will resonate with you.
