Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Morning @Former-Member

Thank you! and thank you to lovely @Snowie @Emelia8 who supported me y'day.

I'm not feeling any better today unfortunately.

There is no light for me. I've given up hope that there will be.

The days just hurt too much.

I hope you are alright.

Hey @WIP,

I'm sorry to hear things are difficult for you right now and don't seem to have improved much. I've sent an email to check in.

Re: Changing meds

I've been told by the mod's in a polite manner enough times, that this a forum service and not a crisis service to get the hint.

Ive been in a high state of distress for many days now and the crisis supports that I try to engage with don't help.

I need to try and make it through to my next psychologist appt - Monday. Which feels

likw an unaccompishable task at the moment.

I truely wish you all the very best on your journey to better health.

Re: Changing meds

Good to see you L @WIP 💞🤗

Yes I have been told that before too about the Forums not being a crisis service.

Unfortunately it is true that within a peer support forum such as this ... we fellow members are very limited in what we can do or what we can offer someone who is clearly in crisis. But that does not mean you cannot still be here. You can still utilise the Forums as subsiduary support to a professional crisis support service. You have many friends here and have developed some very close bonds and connections with others. I get the impression that you feel like you are being forced out. I dont believe that to be the case. The mods are only concerned for your welfare, as we all are, and want you to be safe.

I accept that Monday seems a very long way away right now. But to make it through to then, is most definitely within your ability. You have been through so much, and come through before. I know you can again. Just take each hour, each day, as they come ... you can and will get there. Please dont give up on engaging with crisis support services ... its very important that you do not isolate yourself right now.

Given your comment " I truly wish you all the best onyour journey to better health" ... it sounds like you are taking a break. I hope its for the right reasons, and not because you feel forced out. Like I said earlier ... you can still be here, while utilising professional supports. It does not have to be either/or. Both professional supports and peer supports work very well together. Please dont give up on us.

Sending much love to you L and also a big pat to Levi.

Re: Changing meds

Thank you for your note @Emelia8 - you don't know how much it meant to receive something positive back from my post.

I'm feeling rather 'unhelpable' at the moment. My mum doesn't take much notice of me (think she's pretty much over me), I try the crisis lines and don't get much help to be honest. I don't know what to do. If I call 000, it won't be a good experience, just more detrimental to my MH.

You picked it in that I was taking a break from the forums, as I feel I haven't been abiding by the rules and done the wrong thing - more rejection for me to deal with. Im on my own Em, and I'm sinking. I don't know what to do.

Re: Changing meds

Oh @WIP ... I am greatly saddened by your current hurt and feelings of helplessness. Its such an awful situation to be in, and I really hope you can continue to work your way through it. Its most unfortunate that the crisis lines have not stepped up for you. Its such a personal thing I guess .. helpful for some, but not for others. And I realise there is a mixed lot of counsellors as well, some extremely good and others somewhat ordinary. Though I know they all do the best they can. They would not be doing what they do, without they cared for their fellow human beings. And I suppose there is also the fact that different people need different things from a help line. The counsellor cannot always know what they may be. I also know what you mean about phoning 000 ... it really is a last resort, especially when you have had bad experiences in the past. But please do not hesitate if you are in genuine and real danger.

I too often feel that I am completely alone in my daily battles with MH, and now physical health as well. I too get the feeling that I am slowly sinking, becoming more and more immersed in the depths of a deep dark pit. But human nature dictates that we keep trying, and dont give up. Human spirit is a miraculous thing really. Sometimes I curse it, wondering why it should dictate that we continue to endure the unendurable. But at the end of the day ... we are here, we are strong and we will survive. We will keep finding those little things which make life bearable ... little Levi for you and my little Abbie for me, a bird singing in the tree outside my window, the sound of the rain on my roof, the feel of those raindrops on my face as I walk out on the grass in my bare feet. These are all the small things which make life worthwhile. Keep concentrating on those little things @WIP .. they are just as important as any big thing.

One thing I will say is that it is detrimental to any of us to isolate ourselves. It just sinks us further into the black mire of depression and feeds our feelings of rejection. So keep posting here when you can. As I said before ... people here genuinely care about you. You have friends here.

A big hug and lots of caring thoughts to you.
