Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Aahhh, got it!

Thanks @NatureLover .....still getting used to how all of this works.

Another qu - I noticed in your reply this time, it showed my post/what I was asking. How does this happen? Is it because you did a quick reply, or something else.

Sorry, you've turned into my IT helpdesk..

This gave me a giggle, as I'm not very good with technology! 😄

Don't worry, I had to ask how to do quotes too. Click on Reply (not Quick Reply) and up at the top right you'll see a large button saying Quote. Click on that and it'll show all the person's post - you just delete the bits you're not replying directly to.

You can do several 'Quotes' in the same reply. It's a good idea to go a couple of lines down first, then back up to do your Quote - otherwise your reply gets tangled up in the Quote box. If that makes sense.

Good luck from my explanation, lol! @WIP

Re: Changing meds

That is so cool Levi can now jump on the bed @WIP Tobes can't do that so I have to pick him up to get on the bed. That means if he chases Cat off he stays on the floor for the evening lol He does have a bed and a beanbag there though so he is comfortable wherever he sleeps.

I was super pleased to hear you had a flashback free evening - I hope that continues Hon.

I am travelling okay - still super busy and a lack of sleep over the past few days is getting to me but planning on an early night tonight to try to catch up.

Re: Changing meds

I'm glad to hear you are travelling ok @Zoe7 I think being super busy is a good thing, I miss working so much. I had a very demanding role, but loved the pace of it. I hope you were able to get to bed early& get some healthy sleep in.

I was asleep around 10.30pm & awake at 2.30am to let little Levi out for his business. Have been wide awake since. Seems to be I can get about 4 hours sleep a night - either early, or not till after 4am. It's not healthy & having such an impact on my mind set during the day. I have my psychiatrist appt on Wednesday & that will be first topic of conversation. 2nd will be the deterioration since starting the new meds - I know it's only been two weeks, but I've gone backwards significantly.

i hope you cud babies kept you warm in bed tonight. Have a lovely day - WIP

Hi @WIP Wondering how your psych appointment went today Hon?

Re: Changing meds

Hi @Zoe7

How are you going? Hope all is well

Psych appt didn't go particularly well. I was a blubbering mess for most of it.....luckily I had printed out notes of what to discuss.

Short story, we are stopping the new med and I'm having a week of 'washout', then he'll try me on something new next Wednesday. He gave me a plan for sleep, but I'm not sure how it will go. On both fronts, I'm just going to have to wait and see I guess. Could be another tough week ahead for me. It'll make the world of difference if I can get some quality sleep in.

Night,

WIP

Re: Changing meds

It will be tough changing meds again @WIP I have been there many times before and the period coming off one before introducing another can be excrutiating but I see it also as one step closer to finding something that works. Keep that in mind as you go through this Hon. Hoping very much this new one works for you

Re: Changing meds

Good morning @Zoe7

Yes, the last 3 weeks have been excruciating. I didn't think anything could be worse from the first washout week, but the 2 weeks of the new med was so, so difficult. I'm really hoping this time round, won't be as bad. I got some consecutive hours of good sleep last night and that has helped already.
Thanks for your support and I hope you have a good day!

Hi @WIP , sorry to read about your psych appointment...I'm glad you got a plan for sleep, sleep is so crucial. Also glad to hear you got some solid sleep last night. And now meds changing...always very difficult. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you as you have a week of washout and then start the new meds. We are here to support you...
