Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Hi @BPDSurvivor

Going to the beach and walking through the water would have been lovely. It appears many ppl had the same idea as you, to visit the beach.

I didn't see the Cup race, but read on the online news not long after that a horse had lost it's life - very upsetting indeed.

I hope your back continues to improve and gets you through your busy day tomorrow.

Hugs,

WIP

Re: Changing meds

Thanks @WIP ,

Also, I've never mentioned, but I love your user/profile picture here of the rainbow.

To me, it means a 'promise of hope' - a promise of hope transcending any human creation. I'll claim that promise for you

BIG Hug,

BPDSurvivor

Thanks @BPDSurvivor

Yes, that's how I sort of look at it too - a path to hope. After the rain or storm a beautiful rainbow appears. And that's what I'm working towards. After the storm of my illness, with hard work and belief and rainbow will appear.
Hence, my Profile name - WIP - Work In Progress

It's very much day by day for me. I haven't been as good as you think. I took a bit of time away rim the forum myself, as I wasn't doing very well.

I'm sorry to hear, @WIP . I'm glad you feel able to be back now...I hope things are on an upward trajectory, despite the bad days.

How did yesterday end up for you?

Yes, I've been looking after myself...burnout is a horrible experience, so I definitely want to get rid of it. I still have some, which is why I have to limit my time here, sadly.

Re: Changing meds

My psychologist appointment went ok this morning thanks @Emelia8 @Anastasia @Eve7 @NatureLover

I didn't get upset, so that was an achievement in itself. This was only the 4th session with her, & she is taking things slow. Last week as about sleep hygiene, which I know about already - & sleep meds aren't even helping, so the psychotherapy tactics don't help all that much (being awake at 3.30am this morning proved that).

Today we talked about my menstrual cycle issues, my digestive issues and how they impact my depression. Then I talked about my desire to do some volunteering before looking for F/T work -

she was really supportive of that, & admired what volunteer work I've done in the past.

I've done it before, I can do it again - right?!

Then we did some breathing and mindfulness exercises to get me ready for next weeks session.

Felt a bit basic, as I've done that before, but not put into practice, so I've committed to practicing it every day before my next appt.
