Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Oh dear @Eve7 - I'm so sorry you had to leave group in such a state. You must have felt awful in so many ways 😢

On the plus side, your gratitude journal seems to be helping - that's an awesome thing!

I must get into the habit of journaling.....

I've been ok today. Got my period a week and a half early, which has been uncomfortable etc. Things in that department haven't been regular since I've been so mentally unwell. Oh well - *sigh* - just another thing to worry about.

It reached 30 deg in Melbs today & I can tell you, that's not ideal mask wearing weather!! Very stuffy, uncomfortable & challenging wearing, just walking to the shops. They say we'll be wearing them into early 2021 - so that's a bummer! Although I saw lots of ppl with their masks around their neck (I may have been one of them too 😉) So they must have been uncomfortable too in the heat. I get a bit of asthma, so that flared up a bit too.

Im glad you are doing better tonight - you're doing really well to bounce back after a challenging day. Maybe this round of ECT is starting to work - yay for you!

WIP 🧡🤗 xx

Hi @Emelia8

Did you hear back from the nurse this afternoon.

That's fantastic you've been volunteering for 11 years - that goes to show how much you truely enjoy it.

I am undecided yet if I'll investigate volunteering with the elderly, main reason being as you mentioned - I'd be sure to experience loss throughout the experience, and I'm not sure yet if I'm stable enough to cope with that. I very much enjoy hearing the stories they have to tell though & I just know they'd appreciate my company (& possibly Levi's - when he settles down a bit).

I'm sure I'll find my way regarding volunteering soon enough - it's only been a week since restrictions have eased, and so many things are still unknown, so I just have to be patient. Maybe I could start with being a kiosk attendant at a nursing home - I saw an advert for that today?!?

I hope you've had an ok day 🧡

Re: Changing meds

I wouldn’t fancy wearing a mask in 30 degree heat @WIP although have seen some people wearing very fancy masks. Such a fashion statement haha

I do honestly feel a bit better tonight but whether it’s the meds, ECT, TMS, psychotherapy or whatever I’ll never know. Some meds are being reduced so I’m not so sedated...see how that goes. I am so over it all.

Sorry about your cycle being erratic, that is annoying for you.

Hows Levi today? Did you go walking?

To hear you say 'you honestly feel a bit better' is just wonderful!! @Eve7

With so much going on for you, it'll be hard to pinpoint what it is that's helping the most - it could actually be the combination of everything?! I know and understand the feeling of being over it all. You've only got 2 weeks to go, so let the countdown begin!!

We didn't get up to much today, as I felt pretty blah...

Im going to Mum's tomorrow to help her get her main b'room ready for a new bed/mattress that's being delivered on the weekend. The room is still full of boxes from the move last year. Lucky she's been able to sleep comfortably in the spare room on a king single bed. But she's looking forward to a bigger bed, that's for sure!

Good to hear from you.

Any plans for today in this warm Melbourne weather?

Re: Changing meds

Hi @WIP , I've probably missed a lot of your news, but I thought of you when our restrictions were eased...I hope you feel a bit better about things....

Also, I am seeing you around supporting others...I am really impressed, and glad as you must be feeling a bit stronger than a month ago when I took time away?

Hi @NatureLover

It's very much day by day for me. I haven't been as good as you think. I took a bit of time

away rim the forum myself, as I wasn't doing very well.

Y'day and Monday were ok, but have woken up extremely anxious and edgy this morning, so have to work through that. Yep, it's day by day.....

Hope you are feeling better and you've been looking after yourself.

Morning @BPDSurvivor

I hope your back has improved since yesterday.

I've woken up feeling pretty blah, so need to motivate myself to get up and get going....

Enjoy your walk if you get to go for one 😊

Re: Changing meds

Hey @WIP ,

Did you end up doing anything special today?

I did go to the beach. I was very careful with my back and just went for a coffee and a walk through the water. The water was lovely.

Came home and happened to watch the race...I was so upset that one of the horses was put down....I'm not here to voice my opinions about horse racing, but just to say, I certainly was very upset with the incident.

I'm situationally down at this point.

Other than that, I've got a busier day tomorrow.

Hugs,
