Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

@WIP I hope I am not adding to your sadness but wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of such a beautiful little boy a year ago. We also had a family dog named Ollie and of course you know my little sister lost her cat last week so I am feeling all that sadness with you. Our fur babies are our children and losing one is so very hard - so sending you a lot of extra love and some gentle squishy hugs today.

Gorgeous @Zoe7

No, you aren't adding to my sadness around Ollie's anniversary, so please, please don't think or worry about that. I just really know what you, your sister and family are going through at the moment, as it wasn't really that long ago (it doesn't feel that long) that I went through what you are all experiencing and I just know how much it hurts -really, really hurts & aches. A piece of my heart has been missing since I had to let him go 'over the rainbow'.
As my Mum said this morning ('Nanna' to Ollie), animals are truely part of our family and it's just not fair that they don't live longer than the do. Mum misses Ollie as much as I do. Their home was his 2nd home, as I used to travel for work a fair bit over the years. I know he's with my Dad ('Grandpa' to Ollie) now & they are both looking down on me, wishing I get well again soon.
I just miss them both very much & today more so. It's still very raw since losing them both.

@Zoe7 I truely hope cat has a little while longer here with you, so you can both enjoy the love you share. I hope Tobes went well with his tooth op & I hope your hand keeps healing well.

Take care of you and yours girl!!

Big hugs,

L xx

Re: Changing meds

It really does hurt a lot @WIP - definitely understand that feeling. I truly cannot believe my sister's little boy is gone - he was only a baby still (10 months old). She keeps saying he was too good for this world so hoping now wherever he is he is playing with my sister's other cat who she also only lost a year ago. It has been an horrendous year for loss - 2 cats, a best friend and my own baby not well. Hoping beyond hope that when these further tests come back she can be treated - we have caught it early so there is that chance.

Tobes keeps me going so I very much get how much you would be missing your ittle boy ...and so very sorry for your Dad too Hon - I did not know about you losing him too

Life just plain sucks sometimes WIP but we are still here, still trying our best and still making some progress - that is all we can do hey

Re: Changing meds

@Zoe7 Yes, part of me does believe when a young one leaves this world, they were needed elsewhere and too good to be here. I think that was the case with your sisters little 10month old. He is needed elsewhere, as much as it hurts that he's not here anymore. I hope over time your sister changes her mind, and gets another kitty cat. Without little Levi, I'd be struggling and much more unwell that what I have been this year. Covid has contributed significantly also.

Yeah, last year 'sucked'! I lost my Dad, a couple

of months later my dream job was made redundant, then Mum wanted to sell the family home of over 40 years where I had to do all the work, then Ollie passed & I had a terrible experience with ECT. A lot of loss, grief & struggle in 2019.

As you say, we find a way to muddle through. It's not easy though. It can be bloody difficult.

Hugs to you, Tobes & cat. Thinking of you all ❣️

Re: Changing meds

Hi everyone, @WIP @Zoe7 @Anastasia

I love dogs very much. I was certainly sad when my dogs passed on, but at least I can remember them for the amazing therapy they were to me. They reduced a lot of my anxieties and helped me through a lot. I prefer to remember them for what they did. We had so much fun together and I had them for over 14 years.

Since then, I haven't gottn a new pet. I don't believe I could do a dog justice due to my working hours.

Hugs,

BPDSurvivor

Re: Changing meds

Such a crappy year for you @WIP last year Then covid this year as well - it all adds up!

This year has been a lot like that for me - the losses, the physical injuries, my sister moving amongst other things. I am so very grateful for my fur babies and my friends on here though - it all helps.

Just pulled out some more vines in my backyard - there are branches, blackberries and vines everywhere - big job now to get it all stacked onto the trailer but I can do that later after a rest. I have one more tree to trim branches on before I do that so as soon as my saw is charged that will be my next job. It is something I have been meaning to do for many months but either never gotten around to it or it has been too wet - today is a perfct day ...very little wind, about 20 degrees and dry - so going to keep going until I finish it all today.

@BPDSurvivor Tobes and Cat sleep all day whilst I am at work and then wake up and come out when I am home. The days we have longer meetings I do worry about them but they are safe and happy at home together. Dogs are certainly more responsibility than cats but so worth it as well.

@Zoe7 , definitely pets are awesome, and especially therapeutic.

I will never forget the amazing times I've had with my pets.
