Hey @BPDSurvivor !
3rd birthday - how cute... I hope the zoom call with your little nephew went well. I can imagine the smiles you had while chatting to him.
I spoke to my 9 y.o nephew on Thursday, and smile when I reflect back on him telling me all about the clothes shopping adventure he had that afternoon. He chose a beige linen shirt - so the kid's got taste & style already!
Oh, my back, neck & rib issues have been long term Unfortunatley. My family was in a serious car accident when I was sixteen and I suffered whiplash and twisted back. Over the years, things have just gotten worse. I have major & minor disc bulges and also degeneration in some of the mid discs. I'm in physical pain everyday. Most of the time it's like 'white noise', as I've just gotten used to dealing with it. But having a very high pain threshold means I often let it go too long in-between Chiro/Osteo appointments and things get really bad like they have this week. I usually need remedial massages regularly too, but with stage 4 restrictions, they aren't open, so my muscles have turned hard as rock. I have a Chiro adjustment, but it doesn't last long, cause the muscles being so tight, just pull the bones back into the wrong place.
The physical pain I have, definately contributes to how I feel - my depression, motivation etc.
And on top of that, I have significant problems with my gastrointestinal system, and have since my mid 20s - Slow transit function of stomach and small bowel, had a Total Colectomy 10 years ago, but recently developed colonic inertia (with what's left of my large bowel). So, each day battle high discomfort around all of that. My tummy issues get me REALLY down.
Sorry, got on a bit of a roll there about all my 'physical' issues. They contribute significantly to how I wake up and feel 'mentally'. *sigh
I often wonder how my depression would be, if I didn't have these physical problems. I know I'd still have mental health problems, but to what degree I wonder?
