Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Hi @WIP , that's good that your appointment went OK. I hope the tapering of the sleep med doesn't affect your sleep too much.

Well done for contacting 2 more psychologists. Was the clinic that was recommended by the psychiatrist on Monday full? I really hope not...

My day was OK, thanks...got in a walk.

Re: Changing meds

I am concerned that the tapering off will affect my sleep, but I'll just have to see how it goes and let my psychiatrist know if I begin to have trouble falling & staying asleep. He knows how bad I can get without good sleep.

The clinic that was recommended to me on Monday is who I contacted again today. I didn't realise that their reception desk is in the same level of the hospital where I see my psychiatrist, so I talked to them after my appt. They will get back to me hopefully tomorrow with appointment availability.

Glad you got a walk in @NatureLover . We went to the dog park, which was good. Melb is forecasted to have sun the next few days, so we'll be able to enjoy our hour of 'allowed' exercise time. I'm looking forward to some of these restrictions being lifted.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed for your sleep, @WIP ...

Oh, I really hope they have some availability...

That's good that you got a walk in, and yes, I'm looking forward to a few sunny days in Melbourne!

Hey, do you know if the 6 weeks of Stage 4 has been extended? Someone told me it had been extended by a week, and someone else told me it had been extended by 4 weeks, but I haven't been able to verify that myself...

Re: Changing meds

No, I haven't heard anything today about Stage 4 potentially being extended @NatureLover

I really hope not!, but it is a strong possibility with the new infections still over 100 each day.

I'll watch the news soon to find out

Re: Changing meds

@WIP I thought the daily new infections being under 200 was a good thing...

I'm glad you haven't heard anything about Stage 4 being extended, it was probably just a rumour.

Re: Changing meds

I think what you heard today about Stage 4 extensions was just a rumour @NatureLover

When Dan Andrews was asked today about what would be happening after Stage 4 restrictions were due to expire on Sept 13, he responded with

'it's not yet possible to say'. I think he'll have more

of an idea next week if the number of new infections keep falling. Fingers crossed! 👍

Thanks, @WIP , I'm glad to hear it was just a rumour. Thanks for telling me what Dan Andrews said today. Yes, fingers crossed the numbers keep falling...

Re: Changing meds

Hi @NatureLover

I'm frustrated! Just heard back from the 2 psychologists that were recommended to me earlier this week, and they are booked to capacity at the moment and not taking on any new clients.

I think I'll have to go with the recommendation from one of the unavailable psychologists made. She's a bit further away than I would have liked & $220 p/h, but I'd rather go with a recommendation and try pot luck, which has proved to be hit and miss in the past.

Sorry, just felt like venting....

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine today and didn't get blown away in the wind 😉

Re: Changing meds

Yes, it's windy! Not enough sun though...need more... 🙂

I'm sorry the psychologists you tried aren't taking any new patients... Having a recommendation is good, though, I agree. I hope that one works well...

Re: Changing meds

Hi @BPDSurvivor

Wondering how your week has been? Are you still super busy. I hope you're coping ok with still working from one despite the challenges it brings with it.

I'm feeling 'okayish' the past few days, which is a 'good start' as my psychiatrist said on Wednesday. We are keeping my medication at the same

dose for the next 2 weeks & will reassess when I see him then. I must admit the sunnier weather makes things better. it's Mum's birthday tomorrow, so I'm determined to make it a nice day for her. I was so unwell last year, I don't even recall buying her a card to be honest.

Take care
