Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Depression is the most unpleasant thing I have ever experienced. . . . It is that absence of being able to envisage that you will ever be cheerful again. The absence of hope. That very deadened feeling, which is so very different from feeling sad. Sad hurts but it's a healthy feeling. It is a necessary thing to feel. Depression is very different.

Thanks you @Anastasia

I just don't know what to do, I really don't. I'm try to get through this all on my own & it's been my persistence that's kept me going, but I don't care anymore, this is too hard & hurts so much - and there's no point, no one.

Re: Changing meds

Hey @WIP,

It sounds like you're going through a lot right now, and I'm really sorry to hear it. I'd really like to encourage you to reach out for some extra support if what you're experiencing starts to feel too distressing. There's Lifeline if you feel the need to speak to someone urgently or SANE also has book a call offerings for the Helpcentre to speak to a counsellor or Peer Support to speak to a peer support worker 1:1 if you feel this may be more beneficial for you at this time.

In the meanwhile, I'm holding that hope for you that the stormy seas will soon settle and things will improve. Also wishing you all the strength and courage you may need to ride out this rough wave.

Thank you @TideisTurning

Nothing helps. I've tried crisis lines etc & i just don't get anywhere.

Ive been riding waves everyday for the past two and a half years. I'm have no support irl & being all alone with my thoughts is just excruciating.

Im trying to hang on. Kim appreciate your kind words

Re: Changing meds

@WIP Depression has that effect - it wears us down and wears us out. Like you now, I was also in that place for a long time. Without the wonderful support of so many on here I would not have made it through. They held onto that hope for me when I absolutely could not see any myself - so let us now do the same for you Hon. One of the things that helped me was doing just one thing a day - nothing big but planning on doing something (and often it was just having a shower, making the bed, cooking a meal, etc.) then building up to planning 2 or more things to do in the day. It does not lift that depression but it does give us a little sense of achievement for the day. Hugs and hugs Hon

Re: Changing meds

Thanks @Zoe7

I've been in tears since I woke up.

I have achieved putting a load of washing on and putting the bins out for collection and eaten some b'fast, so that's something.

I can't see any light, it's just dull, dark

and hopeless. I don't want to be here anymore. It hurts too much and I can't do it on my own anymore. I just can't keep existing in this pit of hopelessness.

Ive battled depression for so very long.'I have no fight left. I just don't know
