Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

I very much hope this new medical exemption is accepted @WIP Being that it is from a new pdoc - and you are genuinely not able to look for work - I hope they see that. It really is a broken system - has been for a long time - especially for those like yourself that need the support the most. I get very frustrated when the government professes to prioritise Mental Health but the systems around it do not come up to the standard needed to follow through with their rhetoric.

It also frustrates me that in the present climate there are unrealistic expectations placed on those having to look for work - the jobs just are not there and having to search, find and apply for those is both stressfull and time consuming - I very much hear you Hon

For now just do what you need to put it to the back of your mind, look after you and hope that your pdoc's certificate is accepted - will have everything crossed for you 🤞

Thank you lovely @Zoe7

I've done what I can about for the time being, so trying not to worry about it.

It will be over the next week till I see my pdoc and get the forms I need from him (he's old school and unlikely to email them through any earlier). Then I'll submit them and see what happens.

Amxiety levels will rise next week, so will have to practise a lot of self care and distraction strategies.

thank you

Re: Changing meds

I do hopeit All works out for you @WIP

Yes, I had ect early this morning then a psych appointment which wasn’t good as I was a bit groggy. Just to top off a very medical day I’ve also had an ultra sound and ct scan.

No exercise today but I have made my bed!!

Re: Changing meds

Oh dear @Eve7 sorry you've had a full on day ☹️

I'm surprised you had a full on psych appt after ect, that would have been so challenging.

Im not going to pry, however I hope your other tests went ok. I guess you won't get results till end of week or early next. How you managed to attend those tests after having ect amazes me. You're one very strong lady!!!!

Re: Changing meds

I thought I’d be ok while I was in the health precinct to go over to radiology but having a psych appointment was a stupid idea @WIP and I just became emotional and carried on with a lot of drivel.

Ultrasound of my thyroid as something showed up in a blood test and ct scan of my ankle. Hopefully nothing to worry about. I think I’ll sleep well tonight. @WIP @Zoe7

Re: Changing meds

Hopefully everything comes back okay @Eve7 I have regular checks on my thyroid (bloods and ultrasound) after having issues when I was younger - the usual nodules most often found (some bigger than normal) but nothing to worry about so far - hope that is the same for you Hon

Re: Changing meds

Oh @Eve7 I know what it feels like when you can handle it all. Im sorry it didn't turn out that way. Don't worry too much about the psych appt - im sure they will understand.

I do hope everything is ok with your ankle.

Trynto sleep well, you've got a lot on your plate sweets.

Sending love & hugs 🤗💙🤨🦋🤗💙🌻🦋
