Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Good Morning @Emelia8 @Zoe7 @Bow @Eve7@BPDSurvivor @Anastasia

Well, when it rains it's pours. I woke up to an email from Employment Services Australia, confirming that I have officially been cut off from Job Seeker. I knew it was coming up, but it's just thrown me, particularly with my recent expenses.

When I spoke to them back in early May, they did say I could send in another Medical Exemption Form, so I didn't need to do the mutual obligations to receive the payment, but it may not be accepted and then I'll have to go jump through all sorts hoops - I'm just mentally up to it atm......

The other option is to apply for DSP,but it may not be accepted as your disability needs to last for at least two years &'with mental illness, you don't know if there will be a magic moment that you are able to get back into the workforce.

Sorry ladies, just had to vent - it was a horrible email and text to wake up to.

Maybe my peer worker can help me with the process. It just makes my anxiety so much worse dealing with these organisations.

Hey @WIP I find it absolutely incredible that a medical exemption would not be granted for you - the system is so broken - especially for those like yourself that need that extra help. The system is supposed to be there to support those that are vulnerable but so often it adds to those difficulties - it just is not right Hon and I am so sorry you are being put through this

Re: Changing meds

Thanks @Zoe7

My first medical exemption was approved, however the psych I was seeing at the time put down 7th july as the date he thought I'd be fit to work, or start looking and meeting the 'mutual agreemetns'. Have you actually seen what they are - you have to apply for a ridiculous amount of jobs & meet with someone from Centrelink regularly. It's a full time job in itself!!

I was told I could summit another medical exemption & it may be accepted. So, I've emailed my new pdoc asking if he can complete the form for me. it may not be accepted tho.

The whole process is stressful & makes me feel worse. Yes, it is broken, for ppl like myself who genuinely need the help.

Im just trying to put it at the back of my mind for now, I can't do much more than what I have.

Hope you have a decent day hon. I appreciate you getting back to me xx
