Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Morning @Emelia8

How are you going this morning? I read that little Holly has a sore tummy today. I hope that improves with the loving massages you give her.

I'm ok this morning - a few physical issues, which are causing discomfort. I'm not as mentally fragile as I was y'day, but feeling/nervous anxious about seeing the new psychiatrist tomorrow. My precious guy, said he's provide her with a handover, so I'm concerned how tainted her view will be of me, based on what he's said. BUT, my psychologist also said she'd mention me to her during their 'shared clients' catch-up, that conveniently is taking place before my afternoon appt. so, I'm sure she'll paint a more accurate view of me than what the psychiatrist will.

No point worrying about it till tomorrow, but I struggle with that.

How are you going this morning? @Emelia8

👋👋 to @Anastasia @Eve7 @Bow @Snowie @outlander Happy Sunday!

Hello @WIP I'm certain she's professional enough to wait to make her own opinion once she meets you.

You've got this. I will keep you in my thoughts and in case time gets away wish you the best for tomorrow my dear brave friend L XOX

Hi @BPDSurvivor

Do you successfully practice mindfulness?

it's a skill I've tried before, not so successfully.

It's part of my DBT course & im still struggling, not being able to do more than 60sec at a time.

Do you have any tips for me pls)

Re: Changing meds

Hehehe @WIP ,

I do it, but successfully? Not so sure.

All I know is that if I persist, i definitely see things shift. I can't even count to 10 without getting side tracked!!! I am so wary of mindfulness now that I do it throughout the day... counting, breathing, naming things I see, hear, smell, taste and feel.

I just to say I hated it because I couldn't do it perfectly. But the angst of 'getting it right' made it go wrong! Now, I just say, 'meh? What have I got to lose?' Then I do it, and I notice a calm come upon me.

Im no master at mindfulness, but just do it. Don't worry about it being 'successful' or not.

Hope this makes sense.

im so glad you are persisting with the dbt course. Please tell me what you work on. I'm really really interested. I'd love to be able to complete a full dbt course. I envy you (in a nice way) that you are able do the course. I simply don't have time and when my uni semester begins, I'll be run off my feet even more!

Make the most of the dbt course experience!

Re: Changing meds

Ok, I've hesitated as to whether bother you all posting this, but I'm feeling so distraught that it may be worth it.
My appt with a private psychiatrist was less than disastrous. End story is, she's not taking new clients on - the practice manager should never have taken my booking. Besides that she says I have an anti anxiety tab dependancy - duh, I knew that, my previous pdoc said that. He said we'd deal with that once I was more stable after my DBT &'psychologist classes.
So, end of today - I don't have a psychiatrist - even though she said ' I was very unwell'

Don't know what to do - giving up is a good option. As you know I have little support. I'm a burden on them anyway

Re: Changing meds

Oh no @WIP that is not good at all. I am so upset for you and I just don’t know what to say other than hold on you deserve to have a good psychiatrist who is able to help you.

Sitting beside you with a hug but lost for words.

Whaattt??!!!

How does that even happen?

Oh @WIP I'm so sorry. I can't comprehend this at all. Did she suggest where to turn? Who to try? Makes me angry. 😭🙏💕
