Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Thanks for believing in me @Eve7 I don't believe in myself.

Tiny steps, yes. The days are so long when I'm this distressed.

You have come so far and done so well. You've got support outside this forum. I don't. I'm alone and constantly feel, what's the point? No one would notice if I disappeared.

Re: Changing meds

@WIP you shouldnt have been treated that way, im sorry you were. its not right, you shouldve been treated more respectful and seriously not turned away.
I was wondering if you have another local hospital you could go to? we have 2 near me with mental health wards however one is much better then the other. please dont let this deter you from seeking more help. we are with you

Re: Changing meds

I'm very reluctant and cautious now about visiting another hospital @outlander

I'm in the middle of swapping over from one psychiatrist to another - and they practice out of a local private hospital with Mental Wards.

I didnt want to be admitted under the previous psychiatrist as I don't trust him & last time he admitted me, I came out worse than when I went in b/c of the meds her put me on & pushing me into ECT.

This new psychiatrist might want to admit me, but I'd want a mutually agreed plan before I'd agree.

Friday night was an emergency situation, well in my opinion anyway. Not according to the ER psych that saw me.

I don't know what to do. I'd prefer to stay out of hospital, as I've just found a great psychologist and she back from leave this week. I'm enrolled in a DBT course at the hospital, which I really want to attend.
It's the daily despair and tears I can't do anymore. The emotion overwhelms me and alters my thoughts to the darkest of negative.

As I said, I don't know what to do.

Thanks for replying @outlander 💙

Re: Changing meds

Mum is losing patience with me @Anastasia

She's very frustrated at me and we aren't getting along.

I'm all alone and the loneliness is taking a big toll. I don't have the confidence to meet new people, most mornings I wake in tears and that sets the tone for the day. I stay inside all day, sometimes it's a whole week, unless I have a medical appt.

So, sorry life hasn't been worth living for many, many months now. Each day is excruciatingly painful.

I don't mean to be ungrateful for your encouragement, but I just don't believe these things anymore

Re: Changing meds

Hi @WIP ,

I've noticed that you are so highly thought of and cared for and supported by our other members at the moment, which is honestly so touching and encouraging to see.

I have also noticed you too are struggling with SI this afternoon, so just dropping a reply to let you know you can check in with SCBS or Lifeline for an instant chat if you are really struggling and need to reach out, or just want to have a chat to someone. It's important to us that you are able to stay safe and we are all here behind you on this tricky day.

Stay safe and wishing you the very best,

Otter

Sorry @Otter

I shouldn't be posting.

What happened on Friday night is like the last straw for me.

Your Mum getting frustrated doesn't mean she loves you any less @WIP

She loves you so much and needs you around that's why she can get frustrated hun. I do hear your pain and I'm so sorry 😭😞💞
