Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

I hope you can switch off and try to relax for the rest of the day too @Former-Member

I've already started reducing the ap med, so that may be why I'm not feel great either. Getting that out of my system is going to take a little while, but I'm going to try & fast track it as much as I possibly can.

The real challenge will be ceasing the anti anxiety med - that'll take a couple of months at least.

I hope the bad days lessen as soon as I start regularly having appts with my new medical team & of course starting the therapy course.

I'll get there. It's a process that will take time, I need to be patient and ride the bumps in the road as they come up.

Yes, you will get there. You are already making steps forward, even though it doesn't feel like it. @WIP 🥰

Good morning and thanks @Anastasia

Love and hugs back to you. 💞🌷🌸

Are you still feeling good from the bar therapy? Sounds well worth the money.

Good morning @WIP Are you ok this morning? 💞🌺🌼

I watched quite a few YouTubes on internet on tv yesterday about the vagus nerve. Very helpful, if anyone is interested. Showed simple exercises to do to activate the vagus nerve. It's the largest nerve we have and it signals the brain in how to react to circumstances.
We can rewire our brain by doing the simple exercises. Definitely worth watching. My cousin overseas is a psychologist and she recommended I read a certain book on the vagus nerve. I've been googling about it for a while now and have been doing one of the exercises for a long time. I definitely notice a difference and am going to concentrate on the other exercises now. Eg anxiety has lessened, still need a lot of improvement, but I can tell it's worth being persistent.
@Eve7 @Emelia8

Anyway, thought I'd mention it in case anyone is interested.

Thanks very much @Anastasia

Tough day ahead for me - Dad's 2nd anniversary. It feels like a lot less than that. I have to try to and reflect/reminisce of good memories, rather than spending too much time upset & crying. 😌😢

It is hard remembering. I hope you get through the day ok.
I went through this just after Christmas. Not easy.
Will sit with you, if that helps. 🤗🌼

Thanks @Former-Member

Christmas was hard too, as Dad's last Christmas we celebrated with him in hospital. We knew he didn't have long, and he came home a week and a half later to die at home. All of December & January is very difficult for me.
Mum's coming over this afternoon & we are going to spend the afternoon watching a Carlton game - Dad's passion in life was the Carlton Football Club. He was an AFL & Carlton tragic. I've got some of his Carlton books that I kept and I flicked through them earlier this week. I could smell his 'man cave/pool room' where all his stuff was. I didn't expect that and it made me quite emotional.

I bought Mum a beautiful floral arrangement y'day, she'll tell me off for spending so much, but she deserves them - for Dad, but also a thanks for looking after me since he passed.

That's good that your mum is coming over @WIP

Lovely of you to buy the flowers.
I'm glad you won't be alone.
Watching the footy match will be a good distraction. 👍

Thanks for the frangipanis @Former-Member They're one of my favourite flowers. They remind me of some wonderful holidays I've had. 🌸🌸

Oh, that's good @WIP 🥰

I love gardenias. Love the smell. Unfortunately they only flower in November.
I love roses too. Not so easy to grow in the heat. I bought a lily plant from Woolworths. The flowers were amazing. Just waiting for the bulbs to regrow.
Lavender is nice too.
