Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Hi @Shaz51

I take Melatonin about an hour before I want to go to sleep and the antipsychotic & anti anxiety half an hour after that.

I still don't feel tired, or even close to tired.

Its a nightmare.

Re: Changing meds

My Mr shaz takes his anti anxiety meds after dinner.

And his anti depressants in the mornings

@WIP , sometimes it is tricky to work out what works for each person, soo sitting with you and sometimes meds need adjusting as well

Re: Changing meds

I can't do this.

I keep getting knocked down.

There's no point.

Maybe you could reach out to the SANE Help Centre on 1800 18 7263 or via webchat. Otherwise keep posting here, whatever is most helpful for you

Thanks for your encouraging words @Former-Member

I'm so frustrated after the appointment today and worrying myself sick that I'm not going to be able to sleep without having to increase this AP he's making me take. I just don't like how it makes me feel during the day, and also what it does to my body (slowed metabolism, weight gain etc) and mind during the day - scattered thoughts, not feeling like me...

The story of my life is 'she keeps persevering'. I'd just like a little reward for my commitment.

Re: Changing meds

Sitting here with you @WIP and wishing I could tell you what I take at night now because it works brilliantly. I am sleeping every night now something I haven’t done since H died.

I won’t leave you alone hun. Big hugs.

Re: Changing meds

Thanks dear @Eve7

I know! There's millions of people who suffer insomnia and are given a sleeping tablet to help. He just won't budge and I don't understand why. He's tried to explain, but his reasoning doesn't make sense to me. I'm seeing the GP tomorrow for something else, but going to mention it to her.

Thanks for sitting with me 💖💖

Re: Changing meds

Good idea to mention it to the GP @WIP hopefully she is more understanding.
