Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Awwww @WIP ,

You've made me tear up reading your post. Your inner fighting spirit kept you going. Even when things were so bleak and dark, you held on. You reached out. You experienced the darkest and thickest of clouds move.

I cannot promise there will never be these dark moments again, but I can assure you that you have the power the cling on. When you feel you have no strength left, reaching out here and reaching out to other supports will allow you to be carried.

You have been very proactive by what it sounds - please don't stress out about telling your psychiatrist. You are not indebted to him/her. Your support network needs to work for you. If it's not working, and you've given it enough time, then it's time to look elsewhere, which you have.

Im so proud of you. Under no circumstances am I diminishing what you have been going through, however I want you to know you are amazing to rise beyond it.

Hugs,

BPDSurivor

Re: Changing meds

Hi wonderful @BPDSurvivor

Thank you......

We actually talked about my inner strength and resilience today - how I just keep fighting and fighting to find help to get me on the path to health, even though I've been sinking for months and months. Reaching out here has been part of that fight - and I'm so very grateful for the help that I receive here from forum members & moderators.

I'm fully aware there is going to those really, really dark moments again - I expect them. But, I survived this time and I'll survive again. It's tough as hell, but I'll get through it!

It's an hour by hour process for me at the moment (I broke down in tears tonight as my brain was just running at a million miles a minute and I couldn't slow it down). I felt like I had gone backwards from such a positive afternoon, but that's how my days go - so many emotions running wild.

I am worried about telling my current psychiatrist that I'm moving away from him, but I have to do what is best for me.

In the future I hope to be able to say, I'm taking it day by day - and I hope that's not too far into the future.

Hugs back,

WIP & Levi

Re: Changing meds

Actually, @WIP , this entire thread IS and continues to be YOUR journey. It is like your online journal with an active audience. You can even go through all your own posts from day 1 and, from an outside lens, determine your mood, seeing as you were looking around for a mood diary template. You will then be able to see your ups and downs.

In a mood diary, as I've mentioned before, I think it should include food, sleep and meds. Not essential though - just going through all your posts will allow you to create a line graph to see if there are any trends in your mood. You can note your mood on a spreadsheet. You can either do hour by hour while there are more changes, then gradual move to daily. Or perhaps your life will be so awesome that you won't even have time to keep a mood diary! I step at a time.

Just a suggestion.

Also, please remember it's okay to cry. I hope you don't see it as a sign of 'failure' if you cry. It's totally okay to cry.

Hello @BPDSurvivor

It's been a while, I do hope you are well? I love your suggestions to @WIP around utilising this thread to look back on for her mood diary. Great idea, you are a wealth of good.knowledge 💞

I just wanted to say L that I am thinking of you and really really hope that today is a better day for you. Give Levi a hug from me please ask him for one back for you too. I hope you get your walk-in today with @Eve7 and @Bow , that sounds lovely. Whilst I can't join you, I'll be there in spirit. Maybe @Emelia8 would enjoy a walk too?

Sending you love and hugs my resilient very special friend 🤗💞

Awww. Thanks @Anastasia .

I just think it's so great to see these forums being utilised in a way that is supportive to each other even in the most difficult of times. These forums are what we make them. I believe we've built a very strong supportive culture amongst these threads.

Thanks @WIP for being so honest and open in your posts.

Thanks @Eve7 @Bow @Anastasia @Emelia8 for being so supportive.

Re: Changing meds

Hi @WIP That is so good that your psychologist is caring and that you were able to get an appointment with the other psychiatrist, that you like. Going to DBT also sounds like a good step. Such good decisions.
I can imagine that you will probably be feeling quite exhausted after your emotional appointment yesterday.
Hoping you are okish today.

My car isn't badly damaged, thanks for asking. It was very disappointing though, as I haven't had the car that long and it was fairly new when I bought it. I had a huge panic attack, because I confronted the other driver. I really don't like confrontation at all. I have huge panic attacks and then feel drained and get body aches and pains. Yesterday was also a huge day. I'm hoping today will be easier.
Are you ok? 💖

Leaving a cuppa for you and for anyone who wants one. 🥰

Good morning @Emelia8 re other thread 💖

Good morning @Eve7

That's great you are motivated to go walking. Super good for health. Well done in pushing through.

Do you walk at the beach?

Re: Changing meds

Sometimes I walk on the beach but usually on paths @Former-Member

I prefer to run on the beach but won’t risk it until my wrist is better.

I hope you have a good day.
