Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Awww @WIP ... your mum obviously does love and support you. She is just feeling helpless and confused as to how best to support you. She is probably doing the only thing she can think of right now ... taking Levi out for a walk. As for your sister .. I dont know enough to comment, so will leave that one alone I think. Perhaps just comment that I'm sure she loves you, but probably does not feel adequately equipped to help you.

I know you are feeling hopeless right now. I understand that you feel you are a burden to those who do love you. But I know they would not be better off if you were suddenly not there. They would probably worry all the more ... wondering where they went wrong, what they had missed and how they could have changed outcomes. They would never forgive themselves @WIP .

As for your Mum attending your appointment with you, or not. Thats something you have to feel comfortable with yourself. If it doesnt feel right, ask her to wait in the waiting room. She will understand. Alternatively consider inviting her back in at some point, if its relevant that she be there. But I think you will need some time alone with the psych too. Allow your Mum to take you to the appointment though, because it will make her feel helpful. I'm sure she is doing the best she can in what she sees as a limited capacity to do so.

Its wet and overcast here .. a perfect day to be curled up in bed. I hope the crying has subsided, because it is exhausting in itself. Please take care. What time is your appointment tomorrow?

Yeah, thanks @Peregrinefalcon

I'm not feeling very safe at all.
Feeling quite insignificant and really, really tired of it all.

@WIP ,

You are so brave. You have fought and fought and fought. You have been so honest in your posts that my heart cries out to you. I am sitting with you in this. I can see it is so unbearably hard for you. Just hang in there.

Hugs,

BPDSurvivor

Hi @WIP hope it’s ok to just in here, have been reading your posts on and off the last couple of days, not in a safe place myself at the moment so not been up to replying, but sad that your so sad and not doing ok too. Glad you have an appointment tomorrow and can hopefully make some kind of plan moving forward even if that is a hospital admission, however frightening that is. Thinking of you and will sit by you if that helps, maybe keep each other here and safe?

Re: Changing meds

My dear friends and support team - @Former-Member @Emelia8 @Anastasia @Eve7 @BPDSurvivor @Bow @Shaz51 - thank you all so very much for all your help over the weekend. I was not in a good place at all, and you guys helped see me through, when I almost thought I would give up. I love and appreciate you all.

My psychologist appointment went ok this afternoon. Mum attended, which was good. It was a challenging, emotional session that has left me feeling quite exhausted to be honest. The best thing I fell, is that my psychologist understands the so very dark place I am in, how deeply sad I am and how lost I feel about everything. She understands and cares and wants to help me see some light in my days again. I haven't had anyone care for me like that in such a long time. I am so very alone.

For various reasons, I've made the decision not to go into hospital at the moment.

I have the support of Mum, my new psychologist, my SANE forum family, commencing an outpatient DBT therapy group in a few weeks, a revised safety plan, - and changing psychiatrists. Yes, I've been able to make an appointment for early next month to see the lady I saw back in August. My psychologist knows her (pretty well I got the feeling) and I'll be better off with a team that I trust and we all work together.

Again, thank you all for your love and support over the past few days - you don't know how much it meant to me.

I hope Monday has been kind to you and there was a bit of sunshine in each of your day.

Much love,

WIP & Levi xxx

So, now I just have to 'break up' with my exisiting psychiatrist. I have an appointment on Wednesday morning with him, so I have from now till then to come up with how I am going to let him know.
