Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

Can you make yourself a nice breakfast, followed by a good coffee? Get a decent start to your day .. then see what develops as the day progresses. Hopefully things pick up a bit. @WIP

And give yourself credit for getting through another very bad day.👍

Re: Changing meds

Thanks @Emelia8 I barely scraped through. I don't know how many more days of this I can do. I really can't. I've woken a mess again and struggling already and it's just gone 9am. When is there going to be a better tomorrow? I don't have hope there will be. Thank you for your kind wishes of encouragement, but this illness is beating me.

Re: Changing meds

Is it tomorrow that you see your clinical psych @WIP ?

You trust her, she is clearly very knowledgeable ... please be completely honest with her when you see her. She needs to know just how much you are struggling to get through each and every day. Something can be done to help you, its just a matter of finding the right combination of therapy and medications. There is no such thing as an exact science when it comes to Mental Illnesses. Everyone is different, and its very much a trial and error thing to get the best results. Your right mix just hasnt been found yet ... but it will.

I will be around much of the day if you need a listening ear. I had planned on being on the road to visit my family, but sadly I have had to postpone that visit. So I remain at home.

Re: Changing meds

Sorry to hear you won't get to visit your family today @Emelia8 thats a shame.

Yes, tomorrow I have an appointment with my clinical psychologist. I am going to be honest with her, because things have gotten to the dangerous point, maybe even past dangerous.

I don't see my psychiatrist until next Wednesday, but can always email him about a hospital admission if that's what I decide upon. There's pros and cons of hospital. At this point I am hesitant of going, because last time I did, I came out worse than I went in.

Thanks for your support Em ❣️

Re: Changing meds

Okay thats good that you see your psychologist tomorrow and that you will be honest with her. I think thats best. I think yesterday was proof that you have come to a point where it is unsafe to not do something. Well done on being so courageous as to consider hospitalisation, despite a poor result last time. See what both your psychologist and your psychiatrist have to say about that. And try to get a clear idea on what they plan to do while you are in there, if that is what is recommended. I just dont want to see/hear you going through so much torment @WIP , as what you have endured these past few days. I will always support you my dear, no matter what your choices on treatment. I know you have been very proactive in your treatment choices, and I expect you will continue to do so. I admire your perseverence and clear desire to get well again. Knockbacks and treatment failures hurt and take a definite toll, and yet you keep getting back up and giving something else a go. I guess that is reflective of your life in general ... you have had to deal with so much over the years. You remain very resilient and courageous ... that wont ever change.

Sending you much love and encouragement.

Emelia 💕

Re: Changing meds

Sorry that you had another bad night with horrible dreams. I do understand how horrible it is. @WIP
I wish it wasn't.
I also understand why you're reluctant to go into hospital.
Like @Emelia8 said, it would be good to get a clear understanding about how they can help you in hospital.

I really hope you can have some answers and solutions when you speak to your psychologist.
Here's a cuppa for you and @Emelia8 @Anastasia 👋💜

Are you a tea or coffee drinker @WIP
